I consider my compound to be an "in between" between trad and modern bows. Lol. I shoot an either 2000 or 2001 PSE Nova.

Call it what you want but the best now I have owned to date was a high country supreme extreme built in the early 90s. Sold it to buy a cool single cam bow and regretting it still today.

So after a rough start to the opener the weather being hotter than normal, random weird deer activity, losing a doe and seeing nothing but little bucks (im sure someone thinks I'm crazy). Anyways I got in my tree at 3:30am this morning and like
clockwork 8 eyes looking at me. They don't blow out but casually just disappear. I get setup and just sit listening in the dark. About 6:10am I can start to see. At about 6:30am I catch movement just below the ridge. There are several trails that lead up to this area which is cover in white oaks. 60 yds out from me a deer pops up I wasn't sure at the time if it was a buck or doe until the sun hit his head. I see its a buck and Im like "Ok five sits now with just bucks there not wall hangers but just bucks". I tell myself I can pass this one and I do twice!! He came he left twice. Third time he comes in and im like the hell with it. He ends up being ten yards away as I draw, putting my pin right in the crease and then the release. The arrow smashes him right through him buried in the dirt on the other side. Im expecting him to bolt. Nope he just turns and starts to walk slowly away back to the trail he came. Right before he heads to the opening to go back down he lays down and night night time. I look at my watch and im like damn the day just begun lets see if a doe will come in. Two minutes later another buck comes in and see my deer. He goes over and starts to spar with my dead deer. Thats was cool to see. Then after 30 seconds he blows and snorts and runs away.

It was getting warm so I got down and started the work. He is in the cooler and Im beat. Sweat my head off and now i have to go to work!! Lol love Mondays!!!

Congrats Mcdm. It can be tough to come back from a bad hit. Way to stick with it.

That is an awesome Monday! Stories like this help people like me get through the week! I hope to share in your success this weekend when season opens for us! Way to get one in the cooler! I can't wait for fresh backstrap and tenders and pot roast from the neck!

You're just scared that I have 4 weeks off for hunting!

Ha! I don't know about scared...but I will certainly concede jealousy. 4 weeks! That's awesome. I'm going to have to be creative to get much time in the tree this year. I definitely will not be picky when opportunities present themselves.

For the record, I hope you all on team 1 have good luck during your seasons...I'm just hoping team 3 has great luck!!

Is that what it is? Lol.

Side note... I am a little jealous ;)

I doubt that I will be able to fill them all, but I'll have a total of 11 tags, 5 of which are buck tags (assuming I can take a buck in 3 different antler restricted counties on the Texas side).
One good buck on the ground is all I'm aiming for.
