What's a good 4 step aider? Any recommendations? I typically leave the bottom 3 or 4 steps out of my trees to keep people out. I'm thinking I could use an aider and hang it over the lowest step.

What are you connecting it to? If it's a stick with a double step on the bottom, you can make your own very easily:

Curious how tall you are? Not sure I could set a stick high enough to need a 4 step aider. I'm 6'.

That photo is a bit misleading. :tearsofjoy:

I made a midget stick (13") with the EWO LP on top and midget step spacing. (Also 13")

It is less than 3lbs without the strap or aider. 3.5 lbs as seen in the photo. I call it the Willow. :tongueclosed:

Mini step spacing is for my kids to practice climbing. 20” spacing was too tall for them on my main stick with UP top, so I went with 13" to accommodate for mini legs.

I can skip the intermediate rungs if I want, or use them on weird trees or in-between moves.

This looks like it will do the job. Most of my trees are pre set w/ spikes, or bolts. Normally I do the whole tree from the ground up. Depending on the situation, Sometimes I leave the bottom 6' out and use screw ins. On one end of my property, it is getting more pressure than ever. 2 older gentlemen got permission but they hunt out of ladder stands and don't move around much. I stay out of "their "area and hunt 200 yds away in the thick stuff. Anyway, Now 2 other young dudes got permission to hunt there w/ a cross bow. I ran into them during the season and they mentioned about finding my stands. I didn't tell them that they were mine but they told me all about how they climbed up in them, checked them out and that they were in a great spot. These guys also told me how they intended to Franks ladder stands. I told them that it is not cool to hunt other hunter stands. They said Frank said it was OK. I figure if they are gonna hunt Franks stands then they're most likely gonna hunt mine. I'll just take the bottom steps out to keep them out. These guys don't have sticks or screw ins. On the other end of the property, 2 houses were built and both of those guys hunt or allow people in. That guy walks around a lot but he's not very observant. I want to keep my spikes above eye level. These are saddle tree's so they won't see a stand but I still don't want to advertise the spot. I'll just put 2 spikes level side by side about 7' up and hang the aider off of them. Quick quiet and light.

Remove all your lower bolts and screw in steps so that the first ones are at ~8'.

Get yourself a mini stick and make a double or triple aider for the bottom step. Carry it with you everywhere you go. Slap it on the tree and climb. This will allow you to quickly climb and hunt but should keep most everyone else out of your trees.

Here's the concept...

Take it with you when you go. That will keep your lowest steps or bolts out of reach:

Here are the plans for a double aider made out of Amsteel or generic ATC winch rope equivalent. 1/4" works well for this and is easy to splice. Create two identical single aiders with loops on each end via locked Brummel splice. Then you lock them together. If you want a third step, create a third piece and lock it in the same way. If you have questions, let me know...

The photo I added in post #2, I did this 4x to make the 4 step aider, just with shorter pieces to make shorter step sizes.

If you are putting it on a stick then I would recommend the Ultimater, which lets you change your step distance to whatever you want, whenever you want. You can by a three step, then buy an extra step for like $18 to add on to make it a four step. That’s what I did.

Thank You. That looks like it will do exactly what I want it to do. I can't do the mini stick idea. Some of these trees are 5' in diameter at the base. You can't get a rope around them very easily. it's almost a 2 person job.

If that's the case, I would drill holes for bolts (if you're allowed) and take the bottom 4 out when you leave. Just make sure you always have a half dozen extras in your pack when you go out...

I'm allowed. I thought about to doing this and leaving them at the bottom under the leaves. Over time the holes will close up. I could carry a a little hand drill? I still like your amsteel idea better.
