An aider is usually a rope or webbing that loops are either tied or sewn into. It allows a climber to either extend his height between his steps/sticks or you can use it as it’s own climbing devise.

Welcome to the site. Aider easiest description is a rope or webbing ladder.

So i guess curiosity killed the cat, but why would you use one? Why wouldn’t you just get more steps? Are they cheaper than steps or something, or what am I missing?

It is useful if you have to carry in and out every hunt because it is light. If you are presetting trees with screw ins it wouldn’t be necessary.

If you’re mobile, dive into the site. There is a lot of info on stick, WE Steps, climbing spurs, something called EONPOW and an assortment of some aiders that have been custom designed for use with these methods.

Aiders are for those of us trying to shave weight off our system and use less steps/sticks. Some of us can get pretty ridiculous at the lengths we will go to shave ounces. Cause ounces=pounds and pounds= pain. I have a bad back so i shave off all I can.

Enter aider in the search bar to get more information. Welcome from Michigan.

Welcome to the site, aiders are just another way to get more height while climbing in a mobile setup. Low weight vs. height gained makes them attractive for long walks/run & gun sets.
