Anyone Used a Heartland or Treewalker Climber Before?

Thinking about getting one of these. Anyone have experience with either of the two or both? I have found that there’s a need for a climber at times in late season. I had a bulky heavy summit and wasn’t a fan and wasn’t a fan of my lone wolf sit n climb either. The price is absolutely insane to me but it peaks my interest…

You’re going in the wrong direction if you want to be mobile but in the right direction if you want to sleep in the stand. Haven’t had this kind but friend has a treewalker and this looks very similar. They’re just huge so good luck luggin them around. Lots of guys in alabama use them on leases. That price is idiotic though. I’d spend my money on an aluminum summit if I wanted a good all around climber.

100% agree on the mobility loss. I never really was a fan of the way it stick up over your head to grab everything but I could definitely benefit from it if I rifle hunt a powerline. Any experience with the summits?

I think you can get a solid powerline climber for a lot less than 1k. Summit viper SD is a closed in climber that isn’t too heavy, climbs well and is very comfortable. They also make an XL if you’re a bigger dude. I’d say it’s the staple in Alabama. If you want a little less comfort but a little more mobility the summit open shot is a great option. It is a hand climber though so if you aren’t comfortable with that style stay away. I wouldn’t buy new unless I just really wanted to spend money. Facebooks market place, aldeer.com, Craigslist have then frequently.

I bought a summit viper after tying my father in laws. I liked it way more than I thought I would. However I don’t take it out often because of how big it is. But when I do, man is it comfortable and very nice to climb with. I think it’s awesome for late season in most situations.

In my opinion you can’t compare the summit viper (or equivalent) to what we all normally think of for mobile hunting around here. I would define it as “portable” but not “mobile” to today’s “mobile hunting” standards. In my mind if you quit comparing it to all the microscopic 1oz saddle platforms and tiny 1lb tree stands, and just think of it in terms of just being a “portable” full sized stand, it is awesome and understandable as to why it was (and still is) so popular.

I have a Treewalker that i like better than any climber I have ever been in and i have owned lots of em over the years the treewalker is very light for its size and superbly stable If you use a rifle You can take a monopod and lean it against the inside of the rail on the stand for absolute rock solid shooting and you want need to replace shrink tubing every year like with a Summit but 1000 bucks for a stand is ridiculous

Agreed. I wouldn’t spend it for a climber. I’ve always wanted to get a treewalker but looked them up today and couldnt believe what people are asking and selling them for $450-$600 for a used treewalker some were 7-8 years old.. just wanted to see if anyone had compared a treewalker to summit. While I’m a buy once cry once guy, $1,000 is insanity

Check the classifieds @Jhalver1

I have a treewalker and love it. I also have a cougar claw thats made in Alabama and it is a great stand as well, at a much better price point.

Cougar claw is a good option as well but not cheap either. Made in Foley Alabama.
