BassboysLLP's ultimate platform

I think it’s best to leave it to the guys that are the engineers and are doing the work.

Let them come up with the designs and hope we’re lucky enough that they’ll produce a platform for us.

So...have the engineers been identified and who are they?

Designs can be influenced by what the consumers wants. IMHO, this is a case were having more collaboration can leave us with a product that suits the majority. There may even be a need for two models if there's a large enough group that support each??

I've seen a lot of perfect products that work for tree diameters <20" but not for >20" trees. A majority of the time, I like to get in trees that are >20" to obscure my silhouette. Maybe with enough collaboration we can influence a design that will suffice both small and larger diameter trees??

I believe that they have been identified earlier in this thread. I believe BassboysLLP, Erniepower and Bowhunter15 are all engineers and they are all working together on this. I'm very new to the site and don't know everyone else who is involved's background, but there may be more. There appears to be lots of experienced guys involved.

I'm not involved in it; other than somebody who is hoping to get in on the best platform designed by experienced saddle hunters. My background is in business with a specialty in marketing and brand management. Before my current profession, I was an assistant brand manager (my particular job involved understanding and managing the consumer's expectations). I believe the consumer's input is very important in product development.

However, in this particular case, I haven't heard the guys mention that they're going to build a "product". They're trying to make the perfect saddle hunting platform and I don't think it's for commercial gain. I think they're just trying to get the best platform possible. The way I see it, the rest of us are lucky that they're considering making some for us. I'm sure they're more than happy to hear our input so that they can tweak the design(s) and get the best platform possible, but sometimes there's too many chiefs and too few indians.

I'm not trying to devalue your opinion or anything, just saying that I think we should all be patient and wait and see what the guys come up with and go from there.

Maybe I'm on the wrong track with this, if so, somebody let me know!

And I really hated that job and was terrible at it so I'm very likely on the wrong track haha

I say “throw some mud on the wall” a little brainstorming of idea can only help.

If you got a drawing sketch lets see it.

My background is Quality Assurance... and manufacturing plants use Brainstorming as the first steps in planning and development all the time.

Helps provide fresh idea and momentum. Now if you need someone good at being “critical “ I’ve got you covered

Good point. I took all of the earlier platform threads that these guys have talked about over the last few years as the brainstorming.

I'm sure more couldn't hurt!

Since we're throwing around qualification...my degree is in agriculture business with a minor in marketing. How does that translate to architectural engineering design...it doesn't! LOL

I understand the "key" guys working on this project aren't looking to go to market with the product; however, anything is possible. Also, common sense leads me to believe that the very basics of any product design and manufacturing on any scale, is to provide a solution and have the demand to support it. The greater the demand and financial support, the more flexibility and momentum the project will have. Crowdfunding works on the same principle of this and will require a monetary commitment from those that are interested in acquiring. Building a platform that suits a larger audience will only improve it's financial support and help bring it to fruition sooner.

Just my 2 cents...take it for what it's worth.

I'll try to upload the VERY elementary drawing I have tonight. I don't wanna hear a bunch of negative crap about it though. I'm just trying to participate. If the "key" guys involved want to use an idea from it great...if not...so be it. I just want to see some ideas on the wall and we'll see what ends up sticking.

All input is valuable to this conversation. I'm not an engineer, but I certainly know what will work in a hunting scenario.

Let's keep the comments focused on helping the idea move forward.

I don't know if you realize this but your last 2 posts have come off very aggressive/passive aggressive. That is not what this site is all about. Just because one person on the internet disagreed with you does not mean that you have to take it in that direction. This is an open forum and as long as everyone remains respectful you are free to share your opinions whether someone else agrees with you or not.

Well that certainly wasn't the intentions. Not sure what you're referring too but I will try to be more cognizant of what I say in the future. I'm obviously a proponent of collaboration and I'm very excited about this project. I guess I was looking for the leaders like you, Greg, Ernie and the many others I'm failing to mention, to give us a firm direction on if we should collaborate or stay out of it. I apologize for any negative connotation that anyone might have read in my post.

I guess I should've added "lol" as my disclaimer, after I said "I didn't want to hear any crap about my very elementary sketched platform. I guess it'll be subject to whatever if I share it...oh well. Lol

The weakness of written communication - it is impossible to measure tone, intent and emotion. I know I want a platform and I trust the guys designing it because they have hunted out of a saddle for a long time. They have used platforms that I have never used and have not experienced. That is probably enough for me.
But input from a fellow Aggie cannot hurt

It is all good. I didn't think you realized how it may have come across. I just wanted to get things back on track! :D

Back on topic and to answer what you were looking for. I am sure that the guys who are putting this together will be open to any and all helpful input. So please feel free to continue throwing ideas out there.

Good deal...thanks!

I expect the platform will lock down like an old lone wolf seat have a light post and fit in my pack or on it

And it will be lighter more compact than Ernie’ s platform. Looking forward to it.
