BassboysLLP's ultimate platform

I expect the platform will lock down like an old lone wolf seat have a light post and fit in my pack or on it

And it will be lighter more compact than Ernie’ s platform. Looking forward to it.

Man you're getting me excited!

I want a platform that attracts 125” + bucks everyday. Come on engineers!!!!

Hahaha amazing. I'm pretty sure that was promissed.

@Arkrider - Those bucks better be included in your sketch! In all seriousness, it'll be great to have a visual starting point for everyone to start discussing.

Cheers

Don't clown! I'm almost embarrassed to share but I promised I would. This is my 1st rough draft and I sketched it up while I was talking and brainstorming with another bowhunting buddy of mine. This is the platform as you would be looking down at your feet.

Again...I said it would be VERY elementary!

I proposed this same idea a year ago. I'm just waiting on a smart person to manufacture it.

Looks good.

Now I'm thinking one of the main points or mandatory (?) requirements was that it needed the "V" teeth built in to provide the Cam actions.

Could a design like this have that built in and work? What if the center section closes to tree had the the teeth and then out from there the outer sections (LH/RH) something more in a "Batwing" design. Make sense?

Absolutely...that would work for me. We just need an engineer to look at it and see what they could make work.

Could someone put up a pic of the original LW seat with some dimensions on it for reference and maybe add what they are thinking. Ernie power, bassboys I know you have some originals. Arkriders concept looks like what I thought everyone wanted as far as being longer but with the built in teeth.

The technical issue I see with this design is that on the left and right sides you are very far away from your contact point. If you were to stand on either one of those sides it is going to act like a lever and want to act like a lever, trying to rotate everything. Also being that far away from the post is going to put a lot of stress on the platform and it might break. In order to make a design like that work I think you would need to add some sort of lateral support structure.

Really cool concept man! You wouldn't need any additional devices to shoot 360! However, I have similar concerns to redsquirrel. I wonder what the maximum distance from the post you could get before the lever effect becomes an issue?

Please lets keep this simple following the basic principles of the Kleemz style platform.... at least for a first run.

This is my opinion as well. This past season I took Redsquirrel's and Boudreaux's approach to a platform and used screw ins and the top of my helium. Now I'd like to try a platform and see what it's like. If I'm going to add some bulk and weight for a platform I want it to be as light, packable and simple as possible.

Seeing that DaveT, G2, BassboysLLP, Ernie and a lot of the other experienced saddle hunters seem to prefer a Klemz style platform; I personally think it's best to lean on their experience.

I second DaveT’s advice klemz style. Slightly larger like mentioned earlier.

Well OK. Maybe @g2outdoors was right.
All kidding aside the problem with a design like this is you have no control over tree size. It looks good in theory but to small or large of a tree is an issue.

I agree with the keep it simple and small. If I was going to haul a large platform I the woods you may as well go back to my Millinium hang on. My XOP platform is large enough.

I am thinking of making a quick bracket that fits the width of the post and will go below the top batwing. Just to hold the platform in place until you get it locked down. Should be cheap enough to leave in a tree that you plan on hunting again and have a few in your pack. This is not load bearing at all, just to free up your hands or chest, etc. I am thinking of a screw in, so that would be a problem for public land ( or is it really?) or maybe putting a spur like point may work too. Then you would only need one. I like the size of XOP and the system of camming it down, I just get annoyed with the balancing act of the initial attachment.
