Best option to silence/reduce noise on carabiners??

Hockey tape has been best option for me. Camo form wrap stuff works but adds bulk to the point using them with any sort of mechanical device or trying to pass through the eyes of a hitch cord becomes difficult. Only downside is the sticky residue they leave on.
