Like the title, what’s the best time of year, are saddles like most other items and go on a good sale at a particular time?

Saddles don’t go on sale often but BF is great, usually 4th of July and/or any other patriotic holidays there are some good sales as well. Other than that saddles are one of the only items that keep their retail value looooong into the future. If prices matter, look into any saddle under $230 and you’re going to be happier with the price-to-value ratio. If comfort and safety are your chief concerns then you’re going to pay $200+ easily no matter what you choose.
The most budget-friendly saddles all year round are the Ape Canyon Pioneer and the Custom Gear Modifications saddles. On the higher dollar end, you can’t get much better than an Overwatch.

Good points from the seasoned vets on here. I’d add that it’s worth keeping an eye on the classified section, there are deals to be had year round there and with so many of us that can’t be content and try new things you can often find well taken care of low mileage items. If you know what you want it’s worth joining to be able to post there, you can do an in search of type listing, and if you don’t you’ll see 10 different brands pop up.

My beloved wife says nothing cheap.
smart lady. keep her. Don’t skimp on your life support.
Seriously though, “cheap” isn’t always a synonym for “low quality” in the saddle world. Again, the Ape Canyon saddle is “cheap” in dollar amount but that is a rock solid choice and safe as you can get. Do your homework before you buy.

I wish I had the opportunity but definitely try to meet with some people and try a few styles out. It will help you make a better decision. Good luck!!

Ordered the xc and phantom platform. Now the daunting task of sticks
K.I.S.S. method. Don’t get obsessed with whacky aiders and gymnastics just yet, 3-4 of any quality stick will get you up a tree in minutes and be easy enough to pack. Sticks should be fun to buy IMO. And easy. So easy, us hunters can even do it.

Check the classifieds. Every time the cool kids sew the logo in a different spot, old and barely used saddles will hit the market to make way for the next greatest “kit” that almost guarantees a Booner behind every tree.
