I am new here and had my first purchase on the classifieds. I read the extensive rules in the classifieds ;) and understand the risks as well as understand the site not wanting to be part of it. However I am a member of a number of forums which have classifieds and one in particular had a sub section in the classifieds which you can leave buyer feedback. The people involved if they wish can search for the other person in there and leave feedback with how things went if they search and see nothing they are able to start one with that persons name as the title so others can search for them after.

As a buyer or seller it can add confidence or help make decisions on if they wish to conduct business with an individual.

Prior to buying or selling on the other site if unfamiliar with that particular member I search for that persons name to see if they have been trustworthy, fast at shipping etc and then decide if I wish to buy or sell

I didn't think it was appropriate to leave a link to the other forum however if an admin wishes for me to share it with them I can and will pm it.

    Thanks for a great site

I guess I’m just different. This is a close knit community I trust anyone on this site will send or pay for what they sold or bought. I’ve made deals with guys and they mailed it before they received the check. And I’ve done the same.

I am pretty sure I know the forum, and the feedback there can be really annoying. I get it that people want to see how trustworthy you are, but I get really tired of people pestering me too leave feedback. Honestly it's kind of a pain in the neck to remember to follow up and do that. Especially since you are required to link to the classified ad and half the time I have to spend ten minutes trying to find the ad

This is a pretty tight knit group, and I have never had problems buying or selling here. I understand that as the site grows, this could become more of an issue, but I hope not.

To me, this site and the people on it are more important than whatever money I might make by screwing over another member.

Not to mention, I believe that "other" forum frowns on people using the friends and family option for making payments. I trust these guys more than I need PayPal' s protection

I bought two bows on AT, one was a dry fire I had to rebuild.(limbs were ok, cams were mangled)

So many bows change hands there for so much cash, its easy to get scammed and scary to trust guys

Does anyone else but me see private messages on the side of the homepage under new posts/new profile posts? I just figured...hey family has no private

I'm seeing stuff like classified deals...address and contact info, but stuff that should be PM

That is people posting on other people’s profiles. When I see it I tell them they shouldn’t do that and just send a message. It doesn’t always happen.

So clicking on someones name...start a conversation, is not how to pm someone? There needs to be a pm link when you just click on someones name then imo....its too easy and how you pm on most sites.

Nevermind, that's exactly how a pm works here (after experiments)....may be a little wonky on mobile/email related stuff though

Yes, you are doing it correctly. When you click on their name and go to their profile you can also post on their profile page. That is what you are seeing. I’m considering turning it off but haven’t decided.

I probably will. I've been thinking about it. I don't really see a point to it. It is the same way I feel about social media. Why do we need to do the same thing in 5 different places?

Since this is about classifieds, can we add a sold marker to the header when items are gone? It would easier to navigate threads when you are looking for items still for sale.

Classified threads are locked when they are listed as sold. A lock icon displays next to that thread when browsing the classifieds.
