Newbie to saddle(just ordered my first ) hunting.
When you decide on a tree are you sitting just below the limbs( similar to ladder or lock on) or are you looking for lager trees that you can sit in the crux of the limbs. I don't have my saddle yet but when I'm walking my dog around that's the thought when I am walking by trees. Thanks for the help

I’m primarily looking for the tree that I need to be sitting in to cover the area of interest that takes advantage of the wind, sun, cover, etc. That said, if that includes several possible trees I’m looking for the easiest to climb, right size, no limbs or higher limbs. I’m not looking for big trees or limbs to sit on, which doesn’t sound very comfortable to me. My saddle is very comfortable and I have a stick platform to stand on. Big trees are harder to climb and limit your visibility even more right in front of you.

Single Rope Technique or Double Rope Technique….Rope climbing. Throw a line up in the tree, use that to pull your climbing rope up in the tree and climb the rope to your hunting position.
Thank you

I generally try to find a multi-stem tree, or a copse of trees that offers good concealment. Barring that, I want to get my feet above the bottom branches, but not so thick I can't move or shoot. I generally don't care to climb super high, enough is enough.
