Maybe it’s just me, but good butchers seem to be getting harder to find. I’ve decided to post this thread as an open resource for anyone living/hunting in Delaware to list their preferred wild game butchers in the state, or to find a new one should that be your mission. Couple of “rules” to keep it simple and efficient:
NOW FOR MY RECOMMENDATION:
Dutch Neck Deer Processing
Middletown, DE
Cleanest meat I’ve had from a DE butcher. Very fair pricing and they had/have a 24hr locker as well. Donations are made to charity if desired and they will even help you gut your deer if you’re a new hunter and want to learn.
- Name of the butcher shop/butcher and city or town (county is good enough if you’re not sure)
- Please list butchers you would recommend only. Although honest feedback is appreciated in both positive and negative experiences, let’s try not to trash a butcher’s name on here if we didn’t have a good experience. Just keep it to a civil reply if anything. Seconded recommendations are definitely welcome.
- Only list butchers who are actually in the state of Delaware.
- Please keep “I just butcher them myself” or “there are no good butchers anywhere” comments to yourself. We know you’re the best at taking care of your deer; this thread is for the rest of us who need some professional assistance.
- Tell us a reason or two why you like the butcher’s work. Good packaging? Fat trimming on point? Great prepared meats like jerky or sausage? A1 customer service? 24hr drop-off locker and/or donations to charities that fight hunger? Let us know!
