Nothin at all. I find the platform is all I need. I can shoot anywhere I want with no problems.

I treat the platform like a mini tree stand and can rotate all the way around and stand facing away from the tree. It's a little scary at first but after doing it a few times I actually like turning around and facing away from the tree for a while on a longer hunt. When I do that the tether goes over my shoulder and holds me close to the tree and it feels very secure!

Hey fellows not a new member but very seldom post. I have a guestion about a platform I built out of a LW Elite seat. Was using it last year up a tree camed it over with LW strap and broke the strap. Sharp edges around ears on platform. Have been following your whoopie slings and made one last time home with 1/4" amsteel and it got tight enough but I had a hard time getting loose from the tree. Have any of you had this problem. Seems like the roundness of the tree kinda locks in the sling. Oh last time home means I'm working on a boat in Israel and only get home 1 month in 3.

Exactly what I do most of the time. If I need or want a secondary step I use a Jim Stepp with Amsteel on it or if preset I will use a grizzly step

I have seen the platform stick to the tree pretty good after being cammed onto the tree for a few hours. Just means it was holding tight! lol. Pretty crazy how well the cam action can hold it!

You need to take a round file and smooth over the edges on the ears (if you use them) and the platform if using a jim stepp type knot. And I personally don't care for a whoppie sling - really is no easier then using the stepp know IMHO

Dave thanks for the reply. I did like you said in the woods in Virginia. Was camping and had a chainsaw file in the truck with me and rounded all the edges with it. Had some 1" strap with me and speedy stitched a loop and was back in up the tree that night. But I like the way you fellows do things and always want to try something different. So I tried the whoopie sling and went in the front yard at waist level put it on a 6" or 7" palm tree and it was hard to adjust but I got it tight after a couple tries. Then came getting it off. I fought with it for about 15 minutes and was gona cut it with my pocket knife but it came loose. Long story short you're right no more chinese hand cuffs Stepp knot for me.

Dave thanks for your reply. I did just that. Tied a bowline in it that night temp. I speedy stitched a loop in the strap when I got back to camp. I had a chainsaw file in truck and filed the edges and got me through two weeks in Virginia. But like the way you guys do things and always want to try something new. So 1/4" amsteel and whoopie sling went in front yard to a 6" or 7" Palm tree. I got it tight after a couple tries but spent 15 minutes and many cuss words later it finally let go. Long story short no more chinese handcuffs Stepp knot for me.
