Deerstand Snacks

Only bring food when doing all-day sit. Then it's apples and venison-jalapeno sticks for snacks, some kind of sandwich for lunch.

Am I the only one that don't know which days will turn in to an all day sit? I go on every hunt with snacks and drinks as if I were staying all day. I usually keep an open mind depending on what I'm seeing as to how long I'm staying. Most times if I know I have to be home by noon I will stay home or hunt some easy access point close by then I just take a drink and maybe a bar.

I usually default to planning an all-day sit if I have the time and it's not early season. Otherwise I look forward to a good burger and maybe mid-day scouting before an evening hunt.

I like to take tortilla shells and make sandwiches out of them. Peanut butter, sandwich meat, banana & peanut butter, pb&j. All these will roll up in the tortilla and you can place 4 of these rolled up tortillas in one sandwich bag. Water to drink.
One other thing, smear peanut butter on tortilla and then add a banana (whole or cut in half) freeze it over night. Great snack for early season warm days.
Takes up very little room in a pack.
I do the same. Even when i am not exerting myself, i need an insane number of calories simply due to my metabolism. 6'4" 155# since high school. So even a half day sit requires some food.

I eat an apple slowly during slow times and Chuck what's left of the core away from my tree but close enough to shoot. I haven't had any positive or negative reactions yet.

I also take Clif bars our of the package, put them in zip locks, and put them in a coat pocket so they don't freeze.

I always carry a zip lock bag of lightly salted or unsalted almonds. These things will give you tons of energy to power through the day!!! Besides almonds...anything with peanut butter and other mild foods with low seasoning to reduce odors.

I always keep a couple protein bars in my pack at all times. One of my favorites is left over cold pizza. Don't know why, but just taste good on a all day sit.
