I finally received my new saddle and platform and got to use it for the first time this weekend I've hunted out of climber, lock-ons , and ladderstands but this saddle hunting is pretty neat being able to shot in all areas by just simply moving around the tree man talking about a advantage but if I was to say that I wasn't nervous getting setup I'd be lying I was never as a cat on a tin roof but once I got settled in it was awesome glad I made the swap. Question any of y'all leave your lineman's rope attached around the tree on your first time hunting out of a saddle lol I did

I’m not a huge fan of heights, but for some reason I was ok when I switched to a saddle. I didn’t leave my lineman’s attached, but I did have to keep repeating “trust your gear” over and over again.

I did. Still do if the tree is janky.

Yea I had to keep telling myself that it was made for what I was doing there was a lot of looking and checking making sure I had done everything right
That’s not a bad thing by any means. Some ppl get so comfortable with their systems that they get complacent. I’d rather be a stickler for double- and triple-checking my safety. I also remind myself that the gear is doing its job, that I need to trust it but not get lazy with it, etc.
Keep as little slack in the tether as you can and always keep your ropes loaded with body weight as often as possible. You will start to trust that piece of rope more than most other products you use in daily life lol.

My daughters did exactly this setting up in the split tree right next to me. She never was comfortable enough to let all the slack out. Do what feels safe until you learn to trust it!

Once you learn to trust your equipment you won't need to leave your LB on. You will love the freedom all the maneuvering you can do. Great idea on double and triple checking your equipment setup. I like to say that when when think you checked everything enough times, check it one more. Don't ever get complacent with your safety.
