I bought this garmin 24k topo dvd online last week and I think it is a fake. The online vendor said they bought them in a bulk auction and that they were dealer demo copies. Have any of you see these? I am very hesitant to install this software. In the picture, the disk on the left is an original and the one on the right is the supposed dealer copy???

Only one way to find out...

If you're worried about a virus/malware... just don't allow the disc to autoplay when you put it into your machine. Even if it does you should be able to ctrl-alt-delete your way out of any trouble, or just eject the disc.

Investigate the disc normally. You'll find out quickly enough if it has the topos you were looking for.

Also. The amount of work required to print those discs with the garmin graphics would be way outside of any normal 'hackers' budget. If it was a fake disc it would just be cheaply stickered.

Well it wasn't cheap. These disks are hard to find so I was excited to find it, but I hate paying the price I did for a copy. I'm tempted to try and get a refund but if it is a legit dealer copy I won't push the issue.
