Hanging from GriGri instead of Ropeman?

But if the hollow block was to break the grigri2 would catch anyways, the good thing is you're always tied in and safe to your climb line.

Yale Bandit is 11mm. Feeds ok but I haven't tried thinner rope yet. Maybe thinner is better. My only thinner rope is Bluewater 9mm static accessory rope

Not required, but most 9mm ropes fall in the sweet spot.


A standard grigri is limited to 10mm

I have GriGri2. 9mm appears to be only slightly better than 11. 10mm looks like the best. I'll see what is available by the foot in 10mm. I only need 40' as I don't go high.

I'm running 9mm sterling htp in my gri gri. It works great.

I'm running 9mm in my complete system now. 9mm samson ultra tech on the tether with a kong duck, 9mm sterling htp in my linemans belt with a ropeman 2 (just switched to this) and 9mm sterling htp with a grigri2 for rappeling.

edit to say lineman's is on a ropeman 2.

I very well may end up there, it was just the progression I made. I could only find neon green sterling htp so I only used that for rappelling. I finally found it in the offseason in black so I ordered some of that and I just made my new lineman's belt last week. The lineman's belt was the first priority because I wanted to throw a ropeman2 on there so I can stay within specs. I use a kong duck on my tree tether, but the ropeman design works better on the lineman's belt. I used the samson ultra tech all last season and its still in good shape so I don't need to switch it out for my tether.

Rw rope has htp in olive drab. Another good rope to try is Sterling work pro, It has even better knotability then the Htp.

I've been eyeing up both the 10 and 11 mm HTP in olive drab. Leaning toward the Teufelberger Platinum 10.5mm.

I wonder about knots with the fatter HTP. It is also near zero stretch. I like a little give in my tethers.

For the unitiated, "HTP" is polyester as opposed to Nylon. It is more water resistant. On LONG rappels, lower stretch is better. On a tree, I don't know

You'll feel the bounce at the end of the rappel or slowing for a clean with more stetch in the rope. At least I do.

I like a stiff durable sheaf. Hence why I'm leaning toward the HTP or Platinum. Really like the color on the platinum as well.
