Hello from Northeast Oklahoma

Last year was my first year to hunt it. Shot a nice 8 point and never found it. I am led to believe my arrow was deflected by a small unseen branch in the early morning. He was a dandy. Short blood trail and with the thickness of brush and rough terrain in early October I was unable to find him. I am still uneasy about it. Better luck and shooting this year

I heard rumor they may shut down the hunt for good. There is a new walking and biking trail system going around the lake.
I hope it's just a rumor. I remember seeing places I liked but thought they were unhuntable. I'd like to hunt it again now with the saddle.

They did not mention anything about that last year. I highly doubt it will get shut down. It is really their only way to manage the deer populations in those areas correctly. Most of it is owned by the ODWC too so I doubt that agency will let that happen. I believe there are some zones that hold an endangered woodpecker of some sort, so that will play into its continuation as well.

Try it out this year. I saw several deer in 4 days. 2 nice bucks and multiple does in the zone i was in.

Okay cool. I have a friend who puts in for the draw out at McAlester each year. I don't have any primitive bows so I don't put in for it.
Do you?

Haven't yet but thinking about it. Our lease is about 6 miles as a crow from the plant.

Hello I'm just learning about the saddle and very interested really dont like buying on internet cause I like to actually feel and really inspect what I'm buying. They sell a whole kit and since your from Oklahoma maybe should try and set up some meet and greets so hunters new to the saddle system can learn more like myself.
