How did you find the site?

No problem. Just be safe and test everything out at ground level!

thanks redsquirrel

I know what you mean about spending the cash experimenting then spending more to purchase the "right" thing.

I am condemned to that scenario. I usually spend more trying to "do it my way" than just going ahead and buy the dad burned thing.

I am actually leaning towards Guidos Web right now. Everytime I sit on a small platform in a tree somewhere, I think to my self; man I'd much rather be facing the tree than leaning against it. Don't know why I haven't done something about it waaaaaay before now.

Any how, I got this old Big Game harness that looks like I can do some experimenting with. Just sew on a couple of straps with good loops on them and I might be able to duplicate Guidos Web for a lot less. Of course, it won't be as slick as Guidos, but maybe I can learn if I like it as much as I hope I think I will. I really can't afford to drop the ;$335 right now. Maybe in a month or so. I think I can experiment for just a few $$$$$. I already have a Speedy stich and I have sewn quite a few leather items with it. Just need about 20' of good webbing. I scrounged up a few sliders/buckles from a couple of old cheap gimme harness that came with some old stands.

Thanks for you insight.

I did as you all have suggested. I called and got the low down. ALL webs come with the lumbar adjustment. Old video states otherwise, but lumbar for all!!

I ordered an XL short. Should be here next week.

Anxious to get it and start the learning curve. I'm sure I'll be asking afew questions. Of course, most have already been answered........somewhere on this forum or maybe a few other forums.

newtribe site after purchasing the evo. great site , lots of good info.

I saw the site mentioned on Tradgang. I'm not in to AT and have not seen much mentioned about sling style hunting in a while. This style of "stand" is perfect for longer bows.

My path to the site
1. I wanted to be a better hunter after last season and decided to start reading books on hunting whitetails.
2. After researching I chose "BowHunting Pressured Whitetail". Which was a home run and I feel the Eberhart books are the most practical and information filled I've read.
3. I researched trophyline tree saddles and realized they were no longer making saddles. I decided to buy Lonewolf sticks and a hangon and put off saddle hunting until 2016.
4. I had a hunt with the buck "approaching on a trail that is unshootable from a normal stand " early this year and decided to dive in.
5. I googled saddle hunting and found the site. It was number one so this is either a niche and there are no other sites like it or you do some SEO.
6. I sold my summit climber and some other items and basically got my evolution for the price of items I sold.

Looking forward to sharing info and asking the experts.

Thanks
Kurt

Watched some videos on YouTube from Diy sportsman and cBigBear about using rock climbing harnesses when hunting and it just made sense to me. Thought for awhile about modding the harness to make a saddle and in doing research, found this site. Now I have an Evo and sit drag and am loving every minute of it!

I heard about saddle hunting on The Traditional Bow Hunting and Wilderness podcast, then googled what a saddle was and found this site! I'm pumped to probably buy the aero evolution saddle and tree Spurs for this year!

The saddle/spur combination is truly awesome. Any tree, any where. Nothing except your bow/gun/knife/spear/whatever in your hands walking to and from. ..
It gives you a lot of options.

I leave the spur sheaths on and wear them walking through the woods. After a while, you get used to them and can do it without making excessive noise or damaging your spurs. I would like to have a really lightweight set though, add I think they'd be a lot easier to move around in while walking.

I guess I will be known as the new guy reviving old threads ....
I bought a TL saddle on ebay, and in my search for instructions and information, I found this forum. Really has made moving to the saddle a much easier and encouraging adventure for me. So thank you.

The way I found this thread was ... I was wondering if there was a donation to the site to help with the expenses of the website. Other small forums that I am on, have subscriptions or donations to help off set the costs. I was hoping to find something along those lines to show my appreciation for all the work you do (also this can be used to keep the advertisements off forums, as that is one way to raise $ for operating cost, like AT). So if something like this currently exists please point me in the right direction :)

It's funny, I don't really know how I found this site or even how long I've been a member. It's part off my daily habit to check now and seems like it's always been here. Although I know I hunted out of my guidos web for a couple years before finding you guys

I was reading a thread on our TN hunting forum about who all hunts from saddles. @ImThere commented on it. I realized that I had bought a Sit Drag a couple years ago. Stuff it out of storage then started searching for what I needed to hunt from it. Already had a RC harness, ropeman 1, and rope I was using to make lineman's belts with. Find the site and check it several times a day to see what everyone's up to.

Only hunted from the SD twice last year but have prepped 2 trees so far for next year. Can't wait! No more climber!
