How long have you been hunting out of a saddle?

Two seasons with the TL tree saddle and one season with my homemade Onehair bosun seat.

Depending on my comfort level...this may be my first season. If I can't get the time in to get comfortable (1 & 4 YO boys...) it will be next season. The more I read here and experiment, the more I'm pushing for it to happen this fall!

Not a single day but lots of hours hanging from one in training and on scene preforming high angle rescue. I was on a cell tower at 175' up once and as i was observing the scene below the thought of hunting from the class 3 harness did occur to me! Since then I have been reading and listening to other saddle hunters. From the advice many here have given me I am very excited and confident to hunt from the saddle this year!

I've been on the rescue team where I work for 20+ years. So I'm accustomed to hanging from a harness , ( high angle rescue , confined space , etc...). but this will be my first year hunting from the saddle as well.

Where do you guys train?

I work for Monroe Fire in La. We have a 5 story drill tower where most training is done. LSU comes up to do a cert class every other year. The younger guys are on the USAR team now and I nolonger work on the team. I have 26 years in and a few more till retirment and it cant get here fast enough!

I work here just north of Mobile ,Al.
We've trained at LSU a few times, more recently over in Rome Ga , most of the times out at Texas A&M though.

I've always enjoyed being on the rescue team. This gives me a way to incorporate it into deer hunting.

This will be year four for me. I'd have to look and see how many kills I have but it's several and some of my best bucks. Started with a guidos, moved to an Evo then a SitDrag. This year it will be the new Kestrel

I have been thinking the same and looking at the saddle from the high angle rescue side of things and how I like it setup.

I hunted from an Anderson sling ( no mods) in the mid 90's when I was in my mid twenties and under 200lbs. I still cant believe how I would climb 25ft up with no climbing belt and with 1 hand holding the tree swing the lead strap with carabiner around the tree and attach it back to the leadr. No adjustment for length other than if you needed it shorter you would do another wrap. I did that for about 3-4 years then migrated over to a climber. If this site was around I would have stuck with it. Now at age 50 at 235lbs I struggle staying comfortable in a sit drag, and I have a guido which I find bulky. Still looking for that perfect lightweight solution. The search never ends and keeps me up at night lol.

Been hunting from a saddle since 2008. Absolutely love the mobility and flexibility of hunting from a saddle, and I certainly have a tough time hunting from a stand now!!

Bought the Assassin in 2012 and used it a few times. Loved hanging and moving around the tree but could not get used to the web harness that came with it. Didn't try again until last year with the Evo. I'm all in now

This will be my first season, I got a Guido's Web earlier this year and feel pretty comfortable shooting out of it, and have the kestrel on order.
