Been running this truck/canoe on public land for 3 years. Love it.

I have a 2005 Trail blazer that is 4 wheel drive. It has aroudn 230k miles and is a perfectly functional ride that I absolutely love. If I didn't have it, I don't know what i'd do. The ONLY downfall is having to haul a trailer if you carry anything like an ATV. But, with the luggage racks on top, I have thrown my 17' canoe on top and took it hunting haha.
My favorite rig I've ever owned was an s10 zr2 blazer. I had to sell it though to buy something that was easier to put carseats in.

Someday I'll buy something similar. I've seen some cool stuff done with 4runners lately that peak my interest.

Love my 4runner. Sold my FJ for the same reason.. easier to put a carseat in.

My co worker had been working on his for the last couple years. It's pretty darn nice. Lift, tires, luggage rack, new bumpers, skid plates, rear ladder, drawers in the back, awnings that attach to the luggage racks. I think he even bought one of those roof tents.

It's a great 4 wheeling, hunting rig.

Definitely a lot you can do with it. I don't need to go that far lol, I spend enough time tinkering with saddle stuff! I put a front hitch on mine so I can leave my cargo carrier on the front all season and it doesn't get in my way. I also just picked up a rhino rack t-loader to make it easier to get the nucanoe up onto the kayak rack.

3rd gen (98) 4runner here. It's my "disposable" truck, since I picked it up a year ago for $1600. I meant it as a truck to teach my kids driving in, but it's just so fun I may back out of that and break thier hearts. My daughter sorta thinks it's hers already.
There's a great community of enthusiasts to guide you through diy work and projects at t4r.org. alllmost as good as here. :)

I have been searching for the right 4Runner for several months now. I want the V8 with as many options as possible. I am a Toyota guy through and through but have never owned an suv. I think I will be happy when I finally get one.

I agree. I have thought about building me a small bed area in the back that would allow me to lay a single mattress back there, but I haven't done it yet. I just like having all my stuff inside my vehicle. I think I would like having a truck with camper cover on the back too though.

I’ve got an ‘03 Yukon XL. It’s a HUNGRY beast!!!

I had a 94 and 98 4Runner - but leased and I was always way over the mileage in the contract haha - man they were awesome vehicles. Tundra guy today and love it - but I do miss the old 4Runners

I picked up a 2013 dodge ram 1500 4.7l 4x4 last year after driving a ford focus for 10 years. I honestly don't know how I did it for all those years lol. Now that I have a truck i'll never be able to go back. At best it gets 20mpg highway but the utility can't be beat. Love it.

Depends on what I am doing and where I am going.I have a 2017 Nissan Titan XD 4x4 with a Cummins diesel. It is awesome for road trips and towing my camper. For most of my close to home hunting i have a 97 Nissan hardbody 4x4.Its old Its paid for Its scratched Its dented and it just don’t damn matter.HEHE.Little sucker will go just about anywhere with the 33 inch mud tires. You gotta be a real dumbass to get it stuck.Unfortunately I are been guilty a time or two.

Sold the f250 couple months ago so it's just the ranger now but it was always the real hunting rig anyways, big truck was mostly for farm stuff. I would really like to have a ford bronco for a stand alone hunting rig!!!

I drove a Ranger for years and loved it. Had a lumber rack and tool box, used it for work and hunting, worked out great. Being smaller and relatively light with decent tires on it, it could get around in places bigger trucks struggled. For a hunting/fishing rig though the Bronco I had years ago was tough to beat. It was just big enough I could sleep diagonal across the back. Was more of a fisherman back then and spent a lot of nights sleeping next to streams.

Sold the Ranger for a grandma car when my girls were little. Was supposed to be a temporary extra vehicle but it's what I got for the time being till I makes sense financially to buy a truck again. At least the trunk is big enough to stuff a deer in :D. Love the Toyota Tacoma, that's at the top of my list for the next vehicle.

I had a Tacoma for work. Best, toughest truck I ever had. The seat was awful. You had to get out and stretch every hour or so. I thought it was just me being s big guy. It wasn’t just me. Everyone, little, big in shape etc. the seat would wreck your back. From what I understand Toyota is using different seats now. But pound for pound Best truck I ever drove.

My Dodge I bought as a 20 year truck. I only use it for hunting, fishing and yard work. It is a 2005 that I bought in 2004. It has only 58k miles on it. Less than 5k per year gets put on it.

When I take it to the beach surf fishing I bring it off the beach every evening and rinse out the wheel wells. When I get home from the beach I put a sprinkler under it and keep moving it around every 15 minutes to get all the salt off. I figure I will have this truck until I retire.

Bump. Thought I’d share my new rig. I recently sold my Honda civic and 2WD Toyota Sequoia and got this 2006 gx470 with 108k miles. I’ve always liked the look of these. This will become my do it all vehicle.

In case you’re wondering why a gx. First off, I’ve never had a 4WD and I have been stuck a lot, so I wanted 4WD. I had trouble finding a 1st gen 4WD seqouia like I wanted with low miles and no big problems or rust. Then the 4WD 4Runners were selling for as much as the gxs so I decided to go with the gx. They typically have maintenance done at the dealership and can be found with low mileage. I lost a little space vs. the Sequoia but I like the size and turning radius. I also like that it has the 4.8. This is my first 4WD and I’m very happy with it so far. I put a 2in lift on it and deleted the airbag suspension in the rear. I went with 10x33” Nitto ridge grapplers and I couldn’t be happier with the stance/look. I’m hoping it does decent off-road as well. The handling feels tighter and it handles bumps well. Im excited to take it on some trails and see how it fairs.

Next purchases will be a swing arm hitch and basket for the rear. Looking forward to hauling some meat with this thing next season. We have a cross country trip out west planned this summer so I’m hoping to get some camping and trail time in as well.

I love those!

I ended up getting another crew max tundra since I last posted in this thread. It really is a great truck that has helped make some great memories. I just wish it had a bigger fuel tank.
