As the title says, I am looking for a new pack. Before I discovered a frame back(mystery ranch) I loved my xop striker backpack! decent size, tons of pockets(my main complaint about my current MR pack is the lack of pockets), comfortable to carry as long as you don't put too much weight.

I am looking for a pack that has a frame or at least rigid enough that I can't feel the contents of my pack poking me in the back. Do you guys know anything that would fit this bill? I want a zipper that allows the pack to open up as this one and have several pockets that allow everything to have a designated spot. Please let me know if you know of anything.

Huge pro: I want a pack that's square like this one(I hope that makes sense).

Kuiu venture 1800 or 2300 have a frame sheet but not full frame great pocket layout for how I hunt. Will handle a pretty substantial load for up to a couple mile without getting too uncomfortable. If you decide to go full frame, it really is going to come down to finding the frame that fits you best and the ability to pair the bag that meets your needs. I switched this year from the kuiu venture to a kifaru duplex frame and stryker xl bag. Picking up the kifaru also let me get rid of my seek outside pack that I only used for western hunting. I would recommend all 3 for their intended purpose but the kifaru meets all of my needs from elk to whitetails where the other 2 were more use specific.

just bought a 1800 and im loving it. good storage and i walked 5 miles the other day and was very comfortable with all my gear strapped on. The straps are also moveable which is awesome for tweaking gear configs. If you pack a ton of stuff go with the 2300. I do also plan on packing boned out meat with my 1800 as i have seen others do (deer need to cooperate with this plan)

I had the 1800 and it was a really solid pack for me. I had 80-85 in a few times and it handled it just fine. More than a mile or so and it would start getting noticeable but definitely doable. That much weight without load lifters and frame is a lot to ask of a pack and it exceeded my expectations with that type load.

I just got back from an 8 day hunt where I was walking 10+ miles every day in and out to glassing spots and stalking. I had my Alps Outdoorz Elite 1800 and it performed flawlessly. I’ve also used it to pack out two deer with zero complaints.

The pack itself is removable to simply use the frame for hauling (think return trip if necessary). There’s also a 3800 pack that uses the same frame so you can just buy the bag and have that versatility.

That last pic was from my second pack out and I had forgotten to put my game bag back in the pack, luckily I keep trash bags, lol.

If you’re doing the kind of hunting I was doing the fact that the dove stool fits perfectly over the 1800 bag will be make you smile. I took my 1800 bag with me on the trip, but never broke it out because the stool fit so perfectly on the 1800.

You can see better on the link above, but there’s an upper compartment on top of each bag and then one main full length zipper for complete access along with several internal pockets. There’s also expandable side pockets and one on the back. I was able to easily fit an 85x spotting scope in the side pocket.

Kuiu 1800. Love the ability to customize attachments with the dual molle around the pack. The only thing it lacks, molle on the waist belt. Seriously, it’s amazing

Change of subject. But is that shelf stable oysters? I got a big freaked out when I seen that.

I have a wall full of packs, I have tried the eberlestock x2, it did not have enough room, I have the badlands superday, monster, sjk pack, mystery ranch divide, kings camo 1800, I am currently running the badlands 2200. The 2200 has plenty of separate pockets, an internal frame, and is pretty comfortable with a heavier load. The beauty of the 2200 for me is that it is only slightly bigger than a backpack when compressed, but opens up large enough for me to store all of my gear, my saddle, my hydration bladder, a 1 stick, my thermacell, gps, extra clothes, etc…. When I am ready to go I just grab my pack and my bow. When I get to where I am hunting I put on my saddle at the truck and compress the pack down. Also hard to beat a lifetime warranty. I got my 2200 because I bought a used badlands pack on the classifieds here that had a back pad delaminating. I sent it back to badlands and the 2200 was the updated version of the pack I sent in. Badlands rep reached out to me for sizing questions, asked me what color I wanted, and shipped me a brand new 2200. It arrived to me a couple days after talking to the rep

Heck yeah, man, smoked oysters in a can like sardines. Give them a shot, you may well be surprised at how good they are. Chicken of the Sea are better than the Bumble Bee, but I can’t find them around here anymore.

Look for a pack that uses a frame sheet w aluminum stay. A popular $$$ example would be a hill people gear Connor . HPG have a really solid shoulder harness .
A budget option is to make a DIY frame sheet slid into a hydration / laptop sleeve of your current pack .

I recently upgrades to a Kifaru 22mag with tactical duplex frame and i must say its the bees knees lol good amount of well thought out pockets and also ample molle webbing to add storage all over the pack. Ive loaded 120# in mine just to get a feel (ill only ever carry nearly half of his normally) needless to say, i wish i couldve done all my rucking in the military with this thing. Its a dream to say the least.

I will second @The_Fit_Ness_Monster with the Kifaru recommendation. I have the 22Mag as well as the StrykerXL. They are both great bags and very very customizable as far as adding pockets. Multiple points for straps so you can really set them up to suit your needs. Can't go wrong with either.

my favorite pack so far

light, relatively cheap, well made, adjustable torso length

just have to cut the metal pull tabs off the zippers and tie pull cords to make it not jingle

2 pockets in the top flap and inside one large elastic pocket in the back and 2 large tube pockets (each side) but these don't have any top closure so you have to rely on gravity and things being jammed in there to keep stuff in those pockets....oh almost forgot 2 zipper pockets (each side) on waist belt (these are surprisingly roomy/useful)

Check out the Horn Hunter Full Curl combo. It won’t break the bank and it has a ton of pockets. You can purchase the entire three piece combo, or each individually. I rarely use the big bag. The pack frame has huge pockets on the pack wings, as well as very spacious hip belt pockets. Super versatile.

It seems like every pack I search (everyone you guys mentioned), there is always something that I don't like. The biggest thing i've noticed so far is that lack of pockets accessible from the outside of the pack. That's what I love so much about the XOP pack I posted above. There are 6 pockets accessible from the outside.

I also like a back that opens up and not something I have to dig down through(one reason I hated the X2. The pop up series is pretty much the same for me.

I am currently running a MR mule pack and I LOVE the frame, but man, I have sticking everything in the same pocket. Every time I need something I have to dig through.

I think the MR tree house looks like a good one to try!

If anyone else sees any other options, please let me know.
