If you were going to invest in new arrows…

You don't need anything more than Gold Tip Hunters. We still have some from 1995 that say "Gold Tip by Browning" on them. I would get the XT's at .003" or Pro's at .001" straightness. They don't break, are cost effective, and shoot. Just a classic awesome arrow. That said I have settled on Gold Tip Velocity XT's just to get a little more speed and FOC. There was a lab radar study done a few years ago where the God Tip Velocity shafts were tops in retained energy at distance so there is another plus. They are more prone to break than Gold Tip Hunters if you shoot through a wood fence. You can get away with about 5 or 6 fence shots with them as apposed to nearly infinite with the Hunters, LOL.

Over the last 25 years I have tried several arrow setups of various diameters from Easton, Beeman, Carbon Express, and Gold Tip. I have always ended back with standard diameter Gold Tips. There is just nothing stronger and easier to fool with. Skinny shafts have too many drawbacks as opposed to benefits for a woods hunter like myself. I have never noticed any obvious penetration benefits from them, and out to 60 the wind drift is negligible if you have decent point weight. IF, I was going out west for a once in a lifetime hunt to a wide open and windy area where the shots would be 60-70 yds requiring me to practice at about 100yds, then and only then, I would consider a 0.166" shaft. I just don't see the point otherwise.
