Is a Saddle for me

Ok great, I live in central PA and everyone I talk to is dumbfounded when I talk about saddle hunting.

My first saddle was made from 2 Molle backpack waist bands... the comment I got on that one was that I was wearing a camo diaper...

I get the SAME THING all the time. It's actually really funny because at first they laugh and think you're crazy but it's not long and you can see the lightbulb go off and they start asking questions. I know several people that have switched after I really explained the benefits to them. It's not something that fits everyone but for a lot of hard core hunters they have been searching for years for a good light weight option and the saddle fits their style.

I am in upstate NY and no one I know hunts out of a saddle. When I talk to them they think it sounds unsafe. I tell them that over 20 years of hunting out of stands, I have never worn a harness or strapped into a stand ever and now I am always attached to the tree. So much safer!

I've seen the postings and read alot about saddles. I guess my question is are they comfortable for all day sits? Any regrets from anyone buying. I currently have a LW sit and climb flip top. Just picked up some LW sticks to go with my cheap seat for remote areas where trees are straight. I have considered selling the sit and climb for a Saddle but don't want to regret selling a 400+$ stand for a Saddle I might not like. I hunt all public land in different states and only archery hunt.

Thank you in advance for your experience and opinions on a over brought up topic.
I would never switch to anything else. The only other mobile hunting I have tried is a summit climber which is comfortable but large, noisy and cumbersome. The guidos web is large but not as cumbersome and just as comfortable. The aero is great too. I have never met another saddle hunter face to face in my locale. People I show it too are generally not interested and not impressed. Their loss.
I have a hang on that I have never used. I sold my summit climber but may buy a hand climber to use with the aero.

I have a couple of permanent stands on my farm that my kids use. I do use these in the shotgun hunt too.

Saddle hunting is safe quiet and comfortable and mobile.

I am older and over weight by 30 pounds. I have had an Evo for two years now and am working on two sit drags as we speak. I hunt public ground by myself and have for twelve years ever since picking up a bow then and becoming addicted to deer hunting with a bow. Sometimes I walk five and have gone ten miles through swamps in the Everglades to mountains in Virginia mostly always with a climber. The last two years I have been evolving to a saddle and wish I had known about them sooner. I have fallen out of a summit open shot from 15' face first. I have a summit razor, a cheap light lock on sticks, steps,EZ cut drill bolts, and recently purchased a set of Klein spurs. I have ameristeps, a custom LW elite platform and just ordered an xop for another platform. Hands down I like the saddle best with drill and bolts if going to set tree more than one time. Still need some work with my spurs to get more comfortable with them. But most places to be legal I have to use sticks. Every thing on this list has its place. But for one overall saddle with sticks and platform.
I would keep your climber and use the Bottom for platform and get a sitdrag with belt or rock harness if you don't like it you can sell it and not be out a lot of cash.

I found a black Diamond momentum harness for 20$ new unused. Is that a good deal to try it.

Black Diamond is good gear. I have their mini 8 descender and carabiner. 20 bucks is cheap for any rock harness. Would have to see it. But if it has leg loops a belay loop and fits you you won't find anything cheaper.

I live in North Central PA. I've got an Aero Hunter, no mods. Another Hunter on here from central PA is JKrtatzer. He's south central. Mausty has a camp in North Central.

In general, people look at me crazy. In general, I get more shot opportunities than I did on a lonewolf alpha. I'm also less afraid of dosing off after 3-4 days of all day sits.

I'll never go back for my personal hunting. I'll probably use a double ladder stand and box blind with my 4 y/o and wife.

What is a good saddle to look at buying. I saw the Quidos web is probably the most comfortable but that's it. I w
Found a local with a Large Neoprene Trophyline saddle. Is that a good one and does it have sufficient support for a 4-5hr hunt? The aero looks awesome just $$$. Also I am a 32 waist would a large be too big for a trophyline. Thanks guy.

I use a large Trophyline and I wear a 33 in the waist. It's a little roomy but I consider that a benefit. I'm dedicated to my TL and can't imagine liking anything as much. However, these folks have great things to say about the sitdrag and aerohunter.

I hunted exclusively out of my Trophylines for 5 years. I haven't touched either in 2 seasons since I found the SitDrag. Just Sayin.

I have used my tree saddle once since I got my aero hunter... I also think a large is too big for you, at least for most of the early to mid season. I am a 36 waist and a medium was perfect for me.

And this guy is a dinosaur anyways. He still cooks in a cave over an open fire.

Due to not being able to find a decent saddle in my size at a decent price. I am in the mode to use a RC harness and sew 2 Molle packs together together for the saddle attached to the harness via webbing and possibly a Molle belt as back support attaching to the bridge.

I am a 38 in waist with no ass ... I have a large TL in neoprene and mesh, but I just picked up a medium and it is a better fit. Just worried about the winter/fall layers of clothes that the large may be better. But if u a 33 in a large is most likely gonna be too big.

My first saddle was a double Molle belt. It is a really comfortable route. Pretty bulky, but comfy for sure.

The plastic that is in those belts is pretty thick, so you will definitely need a sewing awl and some hand strength to get them sewn together.

I like the Ikeman saddle and chaos saddle. Ikeman does the plastic help prevent the saddle from pinching your sides
