For all y’all seasoned mobile hunters out there what are some things you have simplified along the way. What gear have you ditched or replaced with something simpler or better. List your tips and tricks for simple efficiency below:

This year I have replaced my Doyle’s gear hoist with 25’ of red 95lb paracord with a little carabiner for a pull-up rope for my bow. I like the Doyle’s but this is so lightweight it doesn’t even count. Less weight, bulk, and noise. It won’t be good for pulling up a backpack but it’s working great for my bow.

Got a tethrd sys strap and started using a hero clip as a bow holder. So much easier, smaller, and lighter than a screw in hook
 
I use an old paint brush handle for my bow hoist. 40' dynaglide, carabiners on both ends, unravels as it's clipped to saddle. lower bow, clip carabiner to tether for pull-down. run one end thru the hole in the brush so the rope never leaves the handle.
 
As a tree stand hunter I’m looking at ways to cut weight. With my cold weather gear I’m hauling in a total of 36lbs. Where I’ve cut so far is getting rid of the mesh seat for my .75 and going back to the standard seat. Less water. Ditching my hss harness and going with the killdeer. Thinking about trading in my beast sticks for the one sticks. Other than that my only area to cut is the Doyle’s but I much prefer it over paracord. I was constantly getting paracord hung on my steps, limbs, arrows, you name it. Im really liking the feather weight lineman rope from wild line ropes.
 
Don’t try to get the clothes you pack in for a hunt, into a bag. Strap them to your setup.

It’s my opinion that the things you’d need to sit in a tree to kill deer - not counting your climbing method/thing to sit on or in/clothes- should fit in a bino harness or very small pack setup and your pockets.

Climbing sticks are a huge improvement over ladder stands and climbers as far as packing goes but that’s about it. I hate carrying climbing and packing up any more than one stick. This ain’t a recommendation for one sticking either.

I use 50 ft of Oplux or Samson Ultratech and so I just use the other half of the rope to pull it down. It’s lot easiest to get a hold of and man handle than small cords.

I’m definitely guilty of carrying too much stuff to the tree.

Tethrd One sticks - nothing is lighter or packs better. Ditched the stacking pins & went Double claws. Changed out stock rope for daisy chains, which adds ability to trucker hitch.

Climbing sling for movable aider, which doubles as back band or knee saver.

Amsteel gear hanger with hero clip - packs to the size of a baseball.

Gear reel to fish up bow - eliminate tangles while climbing.


Tried and ditched - rappelling, mechanical ascenders, 2TC climbing, dedicated one sticks, multi step aider, cam cleats, ros, wild edge steps
