Guys, I know there has been tons of convo regarding this but trying to get more info. I would like to reduce the bridge length on my Kestrel with the rope it came with. I like having the carabiner to disconnect. Did any of you simply cut the rope and tie another Halyard hitch to the carabiner?

From what I have learned most guys are settling in on a bridge length of 24”, some are upwards of 28”-30”. It is all personal.

I took my bridge down to about 2’ then retired it around 28”.

I did not cut mine as I have not decided on a length yet.

I would tie it at a length you like and try it before you cut it. Most guys are using it much shorter than it comes.

REI has climbing slings from 24 inches up rated 22kn i believe. They are cheap and all you have to do is girth hitch one end to saddle and put biner on other end. Cheap, strong, and less bulk!

I am just putting a ropeman 1 on miy bridge this year until I find that sweet spot, otherwise I would use a blakes hitch, but always leave a little extra in case you want to make an adjustment.

I'm either going to measure the Kestrel against my sitdrag and adjust the bridge accordingly. or run a amsteel whoopie
