Great looking stuff guys! It looks like you are ready to rock n roll with the Kestrel and your pouches! I myself have tried a few but keep going back to my Day One Fleece pack. I'm going to put some of the clips on that came with the Kestrel just to try them out but it always seems like I prefer the saddle to be pouch free. I even contacted Day One a while back asking him to make some dump pouches for saddle users but I don't think they ever did. Keep us posted and maybe some pictures of them in the field!

Roger,

Roger,

I have the Dayone fleece fannypack and pack. That fannypack seems like it will work fine with the Kestrel. I haven't hunted with it yet but tried it on. It didn't with the Evo.
Hiking with the pouches loaded up isn't great. But I really like having my steps in the back, LB on the right and Tether on the left with no chance of tangling. The Fleece doesn't stay hanging out and making noise when empty.

Fleece could get caught on thorns while hiking.

We all have a lot of time to obsess over details while hanging in the trees :) Without the internet, this would be HARD!

JSD I realize the benefits of pouches for making items quickly and easily accessible but for me walking in with the Kestrel or the Evolution I prefer the saddle clean. Although I have to admit some of those pouches look pretty tactical and bad-ass when the guys are hanging in the tree! The older I get the more I find myself going back to my standby equipment like the DayOne pack. What I do like and appreciate is everyone experimenting and posting their thoughts and conclusions on equipment they've tried I think it's beneficial to all of us and makes us more efficient hunters.

Roger,

In the case of the fleece pouches, you could simply use them only while climbing.

I don't like hiking with my platform in the back pouch. But while climbing, I know where it is when I need it, and it is accessible while climbing down if I need it.

My linesmans belt is light enough where it will definitely stay connected all the time

JSD you can fit the platform in a pouch, it must be pretty small? I think if given a choice I would put the lineman's belt in a pouch as well rather than just letting it dangle even if daisy chained. Most of the time my lineman's belt and my tree rope are in my pack rather than on my saddle. Again it's just personal preference and I can see the advantages for those who like the pouches.

Roger,

I have been criss crossing both my tether and linesman ropes across my chest to take up slack while walking in. I carry one extra 'biner for my tether so I can double it for a second linesman rope if needed to pass a limb and eliminating dump pouches on the saddle.
Still trying to find a good small QUIET pack as I don't like alot of things hanging from me, my saddle, or on the tree.

DayOne Fleece pack is pretty great as far as quiet and easy access goes.

I just had to get a bigger pack because I want to carry my layers in it and the DayOne gets a little full

I feel like Samford and son after adding the pouches
