Just like it says, Im interested in information on how to tie the knot used on the method metal free waist belt out of 8mm oplux?

I purchased a method saddle and it will definitely be my go to saddle, but after giving it more thought i wish i would have bought the metal free version. It appears as if I can remove the buckle strap from the chanel and snake the oplux through, just not sure how the tie the oplux for the waist belt.

I guess do you think it's just a secure as a buckle if it ever became a restraint issue? ( So as fell and flipped sideways in tree)
Do you think that knot would slip or the rope would be any less secure than the buckle?

No I trust the knot. I tied one up on trc and tried it for stick and platform attachment. If it didn't slip on my platform for the forces applied to it I doubt it will on the belt. I jumped on it did all kinds of stuff trying to get it to slip just kept getting tighter. I didn't like it for platform because bites in pretty hard loaded that much. Didn't slip though. A pain to get loose again after that. But worked really good on sticks since they aren't loaded as hard.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I wanted to be sure I understand this correctly. I sold my Method 2 a while back but I really miss the rope belt, I've seen on multiple threads that people use the adjustable bend knot to tie it, but you obviously don't need to tie both ends of it, which really just makes it an adjustable grip hitch, correct? From what I've seen the adjustable grip hitch looks identical to the first half of the adjustable bend, the "bend" just meaning you're joining two separate ropes if I understand correctly.

I believe you are right that does appear to be exactly what it is https://www.animatedknots.com/adjustable-grip-hitch-knot

I have the Method 1 that came with the australpin belt, but took it out and replaced with with an Amsteel belt based on this hitch and used it last season but this season replaced it with some accessory cord as the Amsteel hitch tended to bind too tight. Overall though the concept is genius and the hitch is an easy tie even for a newbie.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to sew in some magnets so I can get Method 2 panel storage/release as the clips on the Method 1 really stink and are easily lost.

With the adjustable bend, it can work itself loose. What I did was add an extra wrap which keeps it in place much better yet is still easily adjustable.

I've read a couple places now that suggest using a third wrap to add a little extra holding power to the hitch. I made my rope belt out of some 8mm resc tech this morning and it ended up a little shorter than I'd like so I think I'll use it like that for a few sits and see how it does but if I end up remaking it to get a little extra length I'll go with the extra wrap as well ... a little extra holding power never hurts anything! Thanks for the responses!

yeah it does take a little tuning. I've found if you take the time to get the slack out and secure the stopper knot it has never come loose on me - in fact my experience has been sometimes it binds a bit too hard and is tough to release. You will have to tune based on your rope/cordage selection. I love this hitch so much that I would wear it as a belt on my pants, but my wife would probably divorce me :p

I can't get the Adjustable Bend right so I make my rope belts with a Blake’s Hitch...

Waayyy better than a regular belt and buckle!
