Let see pictures of your trees with you gear on them. I wanna see what everyone is using on their tree and where they put it. Since pictures are worth 1000 words, lets see them!!

Thanks,
Boswell

Great idea Boswell! I already have some that I'll find and put up, but I'll take more as I hunt. I have a couple different systems depending on if it is a mobile hunt or pre-set.

Here's me hanging from the tree. I try to keep my setup as simple as possible because I hunt mostly pack in/pack out hunts on public land.
01.jpg

This is the full side view of my HSS Rope style safety belt that I use to clip to my saddle as well as my platform carrier/dump pouches/bow/quiver combo strap.
02.jpg

This is the front view of the combo strap. I have two dump pouches that I use to hold food/snacks/water, scent control, grunt tubes, range finder, whatever I need really.
03.jpg

I've got a hook on each side of the strap. One for my quiver (which I hang 6-8 scent wafers on), and one for my bow. I hunt mostly public land so I don't use screw in bow holders. This setup works better for me anyway. It's faster, quieter and easier to setup than a screw in.
04.jpg

This is the opposite hook where I hang my bow.
05.jpg

I carry my platform in one of the dump pouches to minimize extra stuff in the tree. After I hang my last Muddy step, I strap on my Ameristeps with the ratchet strap and then use the same bag to hold my stuff and my bow.
06.jpg

All in all it's a pretty straightforward setup. My goal is to be as quick and quiet as possible.

Great pics g2. I like the setup you have with the dump pouches hanging.

I was thinking of posting g a thread like this! I am really interested to see how everyone sets up.

Last year I ran into two problems. I didn't like strapping my sticks to a backpack, and I didn't like hanging my bow from a hook. I could never get the bow to sit right on the tree and it was noisy and a lot of movement to get the bow off. This is what I came up with. I also can not screw things into the tree.

Its just a bow hook screwed into a stained piece of scrap wood and a lightweight webbing strap with rings. The rings can be loud if you're not careful, but its not tough to be quiet with them. On public land, this is faster than a screw in hook and also allows you to hang stuff from it like previously posted.

This is the second thing I came up with. I had a padded shoulder strap from a nice golf bag I wasn't using. I use it to carry sticks in, then it doubles as a back rest. I use prusiks connecting the strap to my bridge. Instead of carabiners, I made soft shackles out of some spectra line. They are lighter, silent, and won't be confused with my climbing rated carabiners in the dark.

I have yet to hunt with this setup but I have tested in the yard.. I like the improvements.

Keep posting! I wanna see how you guys set up.

By the way if anyone is interested here is the link for a soft shackle tutorial:

The golf strap is an excellent idea! I have an old TaylorMade golf bag with the backpack straps that I'm not using. I need to cannibalize that thing somehow!

Hi guys
Here's my set up on my learning tree. I hang my rifle from the strap on. All my accessories go in the tree saddle bag. I strap it on the tree so I can see and reach everything without trouble.
I wear TL knee pads. If you can see it I wear a light and whistle on my saddle just in case some thing happens and it's safer for me to wait for help than climb down on my own. (Dropped ladder?) we party hunt, so I'll have contact with someone.
In the picture you can see I can hook my foot behind the rapid rails. This allows me short periods of being hands free (close to the ground) or higher up when the strap hasn't been adjusted yet.

I like using the rope tree strap a lot better with the ropeman 1 ascender. I've been giving the rope strap a shot the past few sits.

Example of a tree that I like. In this one I'm in the middle of a triple tree.

Hey Red,

Nice Boots!
I have the thinner (3.5mm?) version.
Last night was the first time this season I wore them.
The Bolts and Ameristeps are much more comfortable with the AeroHeads

I like the boots a lot! I wonder if they added the 3.5 mm model? I don't remember having a choice when I bought them, got them when they first came out. This year I started putting them on a boot dryer every night cause they don't dry easy and man were they getting stinky! I don't have any problems standing on any of my platforms with them. My old lacrosse boots I wore down the sole in the middle of the foot from stands on tree steps!

Redsquirrel - I see you're using the rope style connection...switching over to the dark side I see ;) ;)

;)

Since I got my buck on September 23rd I've had plenty of time to tinker. I'm trying something new every time I go out there. I am so thrilled with how great the site is doing and all of the amazing ideas that are coming together. I want to try them all. My wife and my bank account are not happy about it

Yeah I agree. I try to setup with at least two trees or with big forking limbs around me. I'll leave the telephone poles for the climbing stands.
