Got a taste of what you public land guys deal with. Hunting a neighbors property that but up against the Blue Ridge Parkway's property. Accessed from the side of the hill. Had another hunter come on from the bottom on a 4 wheeler. Parked and headed over on the Parkway land which is closed to hunting. This is where I was expecting to see the deer come from. Heard them shoot a little while ago..... I did have an 8 point come through but ultimately elected to pass. Not much mass yet. Young deer. He should be good in a few years.

On a brighter note last night I took all 4 kids out in the truck to look for deer in the neighbors fields along the road. Was able to spot a few does and put a stalk on one. Shot her and the kids were able to help with recovery and butchering. They got a kick out of that. Meat was deboned and in the freezer within an hour of pulling the trigger.

Great picture!

I’ve walked over ten miles Saturday and yesterday combined on this wma scouting for a hunt that started today. Lightweight saddle system and I can see the sign in board at the wma gate. Just because you can hunt miles from the road doesn’t mean you have to. @Scoutman there are plenty of houses for sale in GA.

Great looking family you've got there!!

Buck3 was legal. Has to be 15 inch spread. The one I posted wasn’t quite legal. Probably be wishing I shot the third buck. It takes three years of applying to get drawn for this hunt. Really didn’t want to shoot a barely legal buck one hour into the first day.

Live from the ground blind for the last 48 hrs for Michigan’s firearms opener. I’m up at deer camp for the last day trying to fill an antlerless tag... if no deer will be out again this weekend from the saddle.
