Snakes...... One animal I want nothing to do with. I do not do well around snakes.

It was an adult female. She seemed pretty calm, hardly cared I was even there. She didn't even stare at me till I gave her a pet on the back.

We used to go to Stephen Foster State Park as kids, inside the Okefenokee Refuge Area and the raccoons had all but become domesticated. They would walk into the cottages and climb onto our dinner table and eat crawfish and whatever else we had to offer. Fearless little jokers!

I meant to post this saturday night but the weekend got busy. I took the shotgun out on Saturday morning. I ended up seeing 5 deer at 8:50. In the lead were 2 shooter bucks. The first was a wallhanger and the second was probably the biggest buck I've ever seen. When he turned to walk straight away from me all I could see was space between the edge of his ears and his antlers, the spread was just massive. The third was a smaller but still decent buck who had dropped 1 antler already. The last 2 were does or spikes, I couldn't tell. They were about 100 yards with lots of tree branches between us. If they had been 25 yards closer I may have been able to get a shot, but that's hunting.

All in all I ended up gun hunting 6 times this year between muzzleloader and shotgun season, and I only saw 1 other guy while I was in a tree. I saw 3 shooter bucks in my 6 sits. I have only gone gun hunting sporadically over the last 5 or 6 years because it just wasn't fun anymore. Well I had more fun gun hunting this year than I have in a long time. I'm planning on setting up a few spots for next year with gun season specifically in mind.
