I recently purchased a set of Bullman ROS. They are fine but can be difficult to seat them on a tree.

Does anyone have experience with squirrel steps?

I’d have to weigh them & get back to you. I have 4 wrapped in vet tape on an OCB buckle. It’s a nice compact package, they stay in the stretchy water bottle pocket of my pack & fit great & fairly easy to access while wearing my pack. Slightly heavier than my old ameristeps but much smaller stronger package… very easy to secure btw.

I have a set and use the ratchet strap. It is a little heavy and can be noisy. If you tighten it carefully so that the ratchet doesn't click loudly its not too bad. The ratchet strap lets you get them really tight with very little seating needed. I always attach any straps to a tree in my yard and try to remove any stretch that they may have.

I’ve only ever used squirrel steps and I run them on an OCB strap. Don’t quote me, but I think 5 with the strap may have been 1.6 pounds? I can confirm later.

I have 4 seasons on squirrel steps now and love them. Don't have any experience with other ros but I don't see anything in others that look like they would be an improvement over squirrel steps.
