Welcome from PA. I’m a big guy as well, I ended up buying the XC, it’s very comfortable. Definitely start with a saddle and try different climbing methods. I have sticks, aiders, knaider/swaiders, and just started 2TC. If you get the opportunity go to meat up and try different things…..it’ll save your wallet

Do you hunt in Delaware? Where?

Hey De bow hunter, welcome. I’m new to saddle hunting. Just bought all the gear and can’t believe i waited so long. Definitely could use some pointers. Never been in the woods up north. I’m hunting Trap Pond State Park.

Trap Pond is down there. You guys ever see any sika deer?

Robert and I actually met up a couple weeks ago and took a walk in the woods

Good morning. New guy here from DE. Been hunting out a climber for years with all the limitations that come with that. I'm a bigger guy and always assumed saddles we a small guy game until I saw a guy my size at my archer club practicing with a saddle. I was able to try his and now have the bug. I had no idea of the quagmire I was getting into. I figured ok... grab saddle, platform, steps, and ropes and I'm good to go. I had no idea of the amount of options! Now in a state of analysis paralysis reading here. Good thing I have some time until September. Good to be here.
Welcome from Northern Virginia. You have no idea how far down the rabbit hole goes. If you’re married I feel sorry for you. Good luck.

If im down and im off sure. Sounds great. When you thinking?
Within the next month or so. I work most weekends but I can get off with a little bit of notice. That’s my side gig. My wife and I own our own business so during the week is no problem at all.

No Sika deer here. Their mostly in Blackwater Wildlife Refuge near Cambridge, Md.

Just let me know. I’m always looking for a reason to take off a day of work. Weekends get filled quickly with the kids activities but with some notice I can probably shake free.
Where are we thinking?

I want to get after those little things. Seems like such a wasted opportunity to live so close and not hunt something other than WT and turkey… if your lucky enough to draw a tag.

Hey brother... i didn't read all the comments but if ya search the forum, you should find a post on a saddle hunting meetup with this description in southeast pa, hopefully not too far from ya... info i had pasted on my personal calendar. I plan to go and do some JRB tree climbing demonstrations. ( I am hosting a different one in central PA on March 27.)

When entering the park through the entrance, you will go past the entrance shack and turn right on the first road. This road will take you to the top of the hill where you will take the 1st right. Follow this road to the parking lot. I reserved the large pavilion at this parking lot.
