Thought I'd introduce myself to the forum. I'm from Western North Carolina and mountain hunting was bred into my blood. I've been predominantly a ground/slip around type hunter here on national forest my entire life but the newer technology with mobile gear to elevate has been a gamechanger for me. I'm not really new to the game but thought I'd join the virtual community instead of lurking in the shadows

I also own some land in central KY and have permission to hunt several other farms around it. But my heart is with big woods, mountain deer and I typically hunt 75% here on NF and 25% on the land in KY.

Anyways, glad to join and thanks for approval admins and good luck to everyone this year!!

What? Did we just become best friends? I live in Mills River and also have permission and a lease in Eastern Kentucky.

Haha nice! I have family in Mills River, well now they live in Edneyville. I grew up in Cruso and now live up Lake Logan just across the mountain from you in Haywood. I hunt Adair and Russell Counties in Kentucky, just West of Pulaski.

Gotcha. I grew up in Knoxville. Been here 19 years. I hunt Lee and Breathitt counties in KY. Lost my place to hunt locally, so I’m looking for new ground. I’ve tried PNF around N Mills River, but haven’t had any luck.

Pisgah is all I hunt here! Like I said, hunting these gamelands is in my blood, that's my passion. It's tough only because there's so much land and very low deer densities, but to me nothing is more fulfilling than punching a tag on a big mountain buck.

You have some great big deer around your area though. The key to hunting here is to not give up cause it can happen quick and when it does all those days of not seeing anything will be erased.

I just move away from Mills River. In Louisiana now. Loved it up there and missed one of the biggest deer I’ve ever seen up fosters creek.
