Off season plans

Finished an archery box blind for my dad's place for next year. Only planning to hunt there a few times, but he is looking to come off his lease soon and this gets him some infrastructure.
The main box is 7X7 and has a great shooting angle coverage of the current food plot.

I already told him not to feel bad when I decide to hang from a tree in my saddle instead. Went ahead and scouted some of the neighbor's woodlots (with permission, of course) and decided on 4 separate trees to cover the approach to the food plot from different directions and winds.

Still need to get out and scout some more public.

I'm digging it. But I'm a sandlapper from SC. Back on topic though, I'm still scouting here in tx and Oklahoma. Transition is still fighting me here in Tx. Going to Colorado in June scouting if the lords willing. Then maybe whole month of archery for mulies and elk depending on texas transition. Hope to have some spots set up with IkemanTx for the fall in home area. Might take a trip to SC in October for rut in Waccamaw river swamps.

Woke up this morning to a Tom sounding off across the road like it was his last day on earth this morning. Instantly fired up for turkey season!

Also got to watch my moms cat chase four Jakes around their yard yesterday morning. They then proceeded to chase the cat around the yard for another half hour. Quite amusing!

My plans for the off season are to try and get better at shooting my bow. Last year I had all the strings and cables replaced, but since I have removed my rest and adjusted my sights. So, I plan to do some paper tuning and try to get it more accurate. After misplacing a shot on a nice buck last year, the regret has me wanting to be more confident in my shooting abilities. Also, finally got onto a 5,000 acre annual lease and this year will be first year to hunt it. So i am excited about that.
Huck, cant go wrong with a good pair of camo crocs!

Congrats on the lease! 5k acres is awesome!

I know, I am excited. I think its got about 10 people that currently lease it, so we will see what that is like. I figured 10 people on 5,000 acres of woodland and lake-shore is still a pretty good ratio.

Man that's an awesome ratio! Here in TN it would have closer to 30 on a lease that big.

Geez, even public land areas here is close to 300 with less than 10. Mad props to you man, that is tough hunting. But i bet the reward feels so much better.

Lol i'm not jealous. Just a fact of hunting life around here. I personally would never pay to lease anyway, so it's of no matter to me. To each their own.

I'm jealous. lol. I want a year round lease where my family can go camp on the weekends, fishing near by, turkey, deer, and good hiking trails. I missed out last year I won't let it happen again. Lol

10 guns on 5k is a great number. I'm used to 10 guns on 3,100 in west Texas. That hunts a LOT heavier pressured than deep woods that you are on, since west Texas is so open.
