On Rappel

First I tried tying retrieving line to beaner and it got hung up. Then I switched it to the rope with a small utility beaner and it came right down.

The pulley comes down super easy. Kept having troubles with the rope wanting to hang, but not now. Also very handy for other uses.

What pulley is that?? I am thinking of giving this a shot!

Great info!! I'm looking into the spikes and rappeling myself. I see the pics and think I have the idea but would love to see a video of the decent with the rope retrieval etc. Any chance one of you has a vid or plan on doing one? Thanks!!

Its called a hitch tending pully. It has 3 different hook- up holes in it.

I was gonna try this with just a carabiner on the end of the rope. What kind of rope are you using? Have you considered an arborist friction loop?

For people researching this...you really want to use a delta screwlink rather than a carabiner. A carabiner will PROBABLY be fine, but side loading is a no no.....

What I do is just a standard tied girth Hitch tether. I attach a small carabiner to the loop and tie on paracord. Makes it easy to hold the tether tail in one hand and paracord in the other and separate the girth Hitch so you can pull it down.

The paracord doubles as a gear rope. I lower my pack/bow and leave the top end clipped to the tether

x2 on the screw link.

I use a triple fishermans knot to attach to my delta link.
