One gun to rule them all

My vote is the 870 also. I have killed squirrels, birds, turkey, deer, pigs, and snakes with it. When I was guiding in Kodiak that is what everyone carries for Kodiak brown bear protection, that carried and knew. If it is the trusted gun by the locals for the baddest animals in North America, then I would say that is the one gun to rule them all. Bird shot for ptarmigan and sold copper slugs for kodiaks all in one compact carrying case.
Being from Alaska I approve of this message.

I begrudgingly agree if you had to follow the title it would be the 870. I bought a 870 express super magnum in the late 90's and it was a jack of all trades, master of none. I used it for pheasants, ducks, geese, and deer. I never felt it was balanced and swung nice on birds and it was open sights when I wanted a scope. A cantilevered barrel may have made a difference. The funny thing is it is the only gun my son will shoot for birds. At least he wasn't asking for a SBE for his birthday and he wasn't asking to shoot mine!

870 is a great gun and I have had one for many years. It has dropped a bunch of whitetail. But my favorite is a Ruger 96-22 lever action. I think I'm going to like my new Henry single shot .44 magnum for deer hunting. I've dropped several with a Ruger Super Redhawk .44 magnum and like it a lot but cataracts are forcing me to a scope.

I’ve got a Winchester 1200 with three barrels, that’s a pretty versatile gun… If you don’t mind getting kicking in the shoulder by a Clydesdale and hearing loss.
