Ozone machine

Just noticed the comment not to ozone your carbon clothing, or at least activate it after. The only things I ozone are things that I can't wash. In particular my boots are my biggest concern. Even my backpack goes into the wash at least every couple hunts now, if not after every hunt. I need to get another one to rotate in.

The one thing I have noticed is that I have 2 pairs of boots that the ozone machine has started to break down the rubber on. The 2 other pairs I have noticed no change.
 
Ozone is definitely hard on rubber and elastic such as cuffs and suspenders.
I read, and maybe it was hear, that our washing machines will get. Build up of soap residue on the outside of the tub, making it very difficult to be scent free even when using scent free soaps. I think you may have to use scent free detergents all year to protect your washer.

I'm new here and am trying to figure out the best way to de-scent my Guidos Web. Do you guys use the ozone machine on your saddles? The research I've done says ozone is really bad on nylon webbing.

I don't use it on my saddles just to be safe. I would give it a good hand washing with scent free soap and water and let it air dry. I hang mine out in the backyard periodically to let it air out as well.

I don't use it on my saddles just to be safe. I would give it a good hand washing with scent free soap and water and let it air dry. I hang mine out in the backyard periodically to let it air out as well.

Where did you see a comment to not ozone carbon? All of my research shows its one of the best ways to release contamination and used in water treatment. Ozone to release and wash it off.
 
Ozone is great for regenerating the carbon. The act of oxidation almost always increases the water solubility of adsorbed organics; there for it is more easily cleaned.

You should limit the amount of washing though. It breaks down the clothing, you lose carbon (i.e. adsorptive capacity) in the process, and it is difficult to remove the surfactants from the clothing/carbon.

Right. I only wash my scentlok a couple times a season unless they get very dirty. Usually 4-6 dryer regenerations though. Head and hand wear and base layers sometimes after every hunt as those I typically sweat through.

Just bought a second pack to rotate my packs. Scentlok has ridiculous deals in all of their legacy apparel right now so you can get a carbon lined packed for like $40.

Had to send in my lacrosse arrowheads as they both developed small holes in the ankle that was letting liquid in. Hopefully they'll be back before the season. He only thing I do to those is a scent free soap wash on the exterior with a wash cloth or scrub brush then dry with a towel.

I went back and I think I may have misread your previous comment.

So would you ozone your carbon clothing first, wash it to remove the particles that have been broken off the carbon, and then reactivate?

Contact lacrosse it's a common issue. Mine were out of warranty by a few months but they still are honoring it.

Exactly what I've started doing
 
If yall can get your hands on a Scentlok ozone machine buy it. It takes care of everything yall are talking about.
When using it I wash my everyday clothes first so that any scents in the washing machine wash out with those clothes. I then wash my hunting clothes. You can smell the ozone in the air when your clothes in the wash. If your clothes are contaminated with scent the ozone had a stronger smell. I really believe it gets rid of all scents because I've added Scentlok laundry detergent to see if the extra cleaning power. When I pulled the clothes out the wash I could smell the laundry detergent on the clothes, and it's suppose to be scent free laundry detergent!!!!!the clothes go from the wash straight to trash bag to hanging in a field surrounded by woods. The clothes aren't soaked in water either,so it doesn't take long for them to dry. I store them in vacuum sealed bags once they're finished drying.
 
I am sold on ozone. I use one in my truck to keep my equipment scent free. I keep one in the room i dress in before hunts. I don't take one to the tree or use one directly on my clothes (in tub). To my knowledge i haven't been winded since i started using them.
