So I took my son & his fiancé to a private 20 acre spot yesterday evening, when we pulled up to park there were 8 does in the far field. We tried to put the sneak on & blew the field out. I had little hope for the remaining 2 hours, I put them both in a double ladder with a swamp at their back & thick stuff in front. I eased out 150yds & sat against a tree to watch the bottom the deer took off to. 10 minutes later 2 shots! I said I’d come help look for blood. She made a nice shot on a running doe at about 60yds. My son had a clean miss at the deer behind that one. I found a pile of blood on my way to them & let her follow the great blood trail to her prize! Nice doe at least 2 yrs old. So she got the quick lesson on gutless breakdown & packout & can’t wait to share that with her Dad. ( she just help him with a 2 mile drag of his buck last month & said why in the world doesn’t everyone do this…….) we got it on ice & cut it up this evening & she’s taking it back home tomorrow. 30 mins for the breakdown to game bag & 45 mins to breakdown quarters, straps & neck roast. We also ate deer heart for the first time this evening nice treat for all!!! Great memory, my son is gonna have to get after it to keep up with her…….
