Pallet wall pics

Ok guys thinking about doing my chimney in my living room with pallet wood. No its not a real chimney, more of a drywall stand off cosmetic wall above a gas fireplace. What's the trick to breaking down a pallet without cracking the wood? Also most pallets i find tend to not be weathered looking. Are you drywall screwing the planks to the wall? Think Im slowly getting my outdoor/hunting theme upstairs.:cool:

i used a fathead screwdriver to pry apart the boards from the bottom supports than used a jigsaw to cut the nail flush.
