Bought a set of bullman ring platform played with them for a few days in the yard on different trees with no issues at all. Took them hunting for the first time and it’s a thinner pine then one of the ones I practiced on I usually hunt with the platform from it. I strapped it to the tree adjusted my steps and tightened it all the way to where I couldn’t even get another click as I practiced and once I stepped on the steps they all slid down tried it again and same issue. Don’t know if it’s the tree or what.

What was the bark like between the practice trees and the hunting tree?

Dunno then. Unless the strap was loose, it should hold as tight as your tether.

They settle in. Crank the ratchet as hard as you could then give another click.

Walk around the ring to settle them in. They will move a little

On the tree I tried hunting them on I tightened them as much as I could till I couldn’t get another click out of the ratchet. Not a small guy so had a little bit of extra leverage I had to jerk the handle to get the extra click out of it. Have a feeling it was the smaller tree size I was hunting or the amount of steps. Should have used 3 instead of 4 on that pine.

I just got a new set of the platform ROS in today. Took them straight to the tree. The strap is really tight through the steps. Ratcheted them down tightly and then gave each one a little test hop which seemed to lock them into place. These things are solid and don’t seem to move at all even with my 230 lbs pushing on them. They don’t pack down nearly as small as my squirrel steps but I like them a lot. The angle steps seem to help both with foot alignment and with keeping them tight since the weight is distributed across a wider space. In my mind, Shawn really nailed it with this design. Can’t wait to get them into the woods for our hog hunt in February

You gotta admit 1/4-1/3 of your boot sticks off those steps

I want someone to make ridiculous sized ring of steps. It would be nice to know how bulky is too bulky, and not be wondering.

That said, I may have been converted from my tiny squirrel steps to the top step from JX3. It’s been quite effective this season.

I'm really liking the W.E. Stepps for a ROS. W/ the side ones higher than the front one. So much more room for my big feet.....

You JX3 people are no help. Not relatable lol
