Ropeman Safety

I'm learning so does the rope man replace pursik note?

Yes some people been using them as a rope grab as their main life support device. Remember it wasn't designed to be used as a linemens belt rope grab or as a main life support device like a friction hitch cord is. Do your research and test it before you climb with it or any other gear.

Tracker,
It isn’t THAT grim...it’s an Ascender. But you’d be using two of them for that and they’d be backed up to each other

The test where the ropeman 1 was ripping the rope apart at 3.5kn is a game changer for me though.

I use it on my Bridge and tether backed up by Blake's hitch and a Figure 8. I don't see the problem with that as far as safety is concerned.

It was starting to damage the sheath.
And again...how are you planning to load it to 3.5kn?
There are guys toproping with these

In a hunting situation its very unlikely to get a 3.5 kn fall for me, 3.5kn isnt very much and it that was with the rope they tested, some other ropes might be more or less tearing afterall we all use different ropes snd sizes. I could see a new guy possibly having a decent fall due to lack of experience. Whose top roping with these?

biggest fall factor is generally use as a linemans belt. this applies to saddle and tree stand hunters.

I've seen lots of posts from people using them for Self Belay with the usual disclaimer.
One of the youtube Ropeman reviews, the guy is using it to ascend 8mm rope.

I WOULDN'T DO EITHER OF THOSE myself.

Okay that makes more sense, I could see it's use for solo top roping.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to end up picking 2 more up and doing an SRT setup with them. One on the bridge and one on a set of stirrups. I just have to decide if I’m willing to put the time in learning, and setting up trees for, SRT

The learning part is easy. 10 minutes of practice and you’ll have the climbing part down at least

It’s the getting the rope into the tree that’s the hard part! So many options, not many of them really good for close bedding run n gun hunts... sling bags vs leaving paracord in the tree... it’s actually a pretty complicated thought process for a guy as slow as me.
