I’ve decided to build me up another saddle to use next year I’ve got this pleated saddle started but not sure from there.
I’ve somewhat got a design in my head but I’m open to other’s ideas on features.
I really like how Jamie from Overwatch outdoors keeps the pleat closed on his new saddle that’s slick. I’ll probably do something similar on this saddle.
As for bridge I’m thinking a adjustable webbing but not 100% sure may just use a adjustable Amsteal.
I’ve also kicked around the idea of that webbing linemen’s belt areo hunter came up with maybe make a version of that not sure I want to limit myself to that design maybe still have linemen loops just Incase I don’t like it.
At the moment I’m also thinking about going with a rope belt. I had a latitude method with that system it worked great. I think I’ll go with Jamie’s design with the loops that let the rope ride above the frame.
Haven’t decided on leg straps as of yet I just don’t like them but feel I need them moving forward.
I’m going to study CGM saddles Jerry has some great ideas I’m sure I can use or modify to my liking.

That’s the great thing about DIY you can use the best design ideas available and incorporate them into your build how you like.

The sky should be the limit with a fancy machine like that! Looking forward to seeing the build.

I decided to go with a webbing belt due to having the materials on hand and I’m just not 100% sure on a rope belt yet.
I did finish up the build today other than the leg strap buckles and bridge which are on order.
Originally I wanted to try some new stuff and I did put one new feature on I’ve not used before but for 95% of this build I used features and techniques I’ve done before.
overall I’m happy with it but I did make a few mistakes I had to fix but like I said it’s been awhile since I’ve worked much on a machine.

Wow , I wish I could sew like that .
Trust me I couldn’t use a machine worth a darn at first but I was lucky to have an excellent teacher from the forum and with him and @always89y DIY saddle build videos and some hard work I figured it out.
I believe anyone can do it if you put in the time it’s very satisfying work.

Built a new backband tonight and tried out a new design idea with a upper and lower adjustable straps.
I have lower back issues and a backband helps on longer sets so I wanted to give this a try.
I tried it in my yard and I think it has potential to make a difference.
With a simple adjustment on the top or bottom you can definitely feel it.
Still packs up very small and falls out of the way for a shot.
I set the bottom just above the saddle and that’s very comfortable.
