SaddlePalooza - Feb 16-19, 2018 - Official Thread

Well, costs $100 plus a VERY cheap out of state license/property permit.

Awesome deal. I'll definitely have to make it.

If you are a saddle hunter, or thinking of becoming a saddle hunter, it's for you.

Let's me add this...try to find a pig hunt for $100 that includes dinners, campground accommodations, an event shirt, and the chance to win a $300 saddle package.

Go ahead, I'll wait... :)

We're not making money, just building a community around sharing our passion for the great outdoors!

You're forgetting the raffle. We will sell raffle tickets for all the sponsors donations which will offset the cost.

I didn't forget about the raffle I'm keeping it on the down low so no one buy the winning raffle ticket but me!!!!!!! Less competition!!!

@donnieballgame, you can use your phone as a gps even if you don't have service. For example in onx you can download the maps of where you will be and use them offline, and you will still have a gps signal even if you don't have cell coverage.

Sorry for getting off topic, I'll put staying on topic on my "to do list"! Yes, the GPS location is independent of your cell service, the antenna might not be as accurate as your actual GPS but for what we need it works great. Typically phones use cell service to help triangulate the position but it works just fine with just GPS. You might also need more time to acquire a signal, but I've never had any real trouble. I'm no expert with Backcountry Navigator but I believe you can download the maps, and they have options way better than what I'm using, I'm using the standard NGA 1:25k type of topographical maps and they work well enough. I've got a Samsung phone, I'm NOT an iphone guy, I have a 128gb card in my phone that I load it up with maps, I have all of my hunting/recreation areas, my app will kill my battery pretty quick, but I shut if off when I'm in the tree and carry a battery backup and it isn't really a problem.

Heck, I just watched 4 or 5 yesterday. I hadn't been in YouTube since you posted the river hunting scouting videos. Binge watched them.

I just got some amazing news...

@Erniepower is donating a COMPLETE XOP PLATFORM to the SaddlePalooza raffle. That means the XOP seat, brackets, and post with all his improvements.

Wow!

Oh wait, what's that, Ernie? One isn't good enough? You're going to donate 2? Stop it right now.

2 lucky Saddle hunters will walk away with Ernie Outdoors Platforms. Amazing. I love this community.

Definitely Savannah/Hilton Head Airport. Jacksonville is the next closest and it's about 90 miles away.

Well, I didn't recover her... but here's some pig blood from this morning to get y'all going... I lost her trail when she crossed water in a big thicket. Never found blood on the other side.
