Bought my bow at the end of last season and bought my saddle over the summer - So very new to all of this.

Just curious as to everyone's scent control protocol. I have been follow Eberhart method and it has worked really. So much I was covered up in deer last night a couldn't get my bow and was eventually busted.

This is a very controversial topic around here but I’ll say my 2 cents and that would be that following the words of John will not steer you wrong one bit

Obviously I take the wind into account when picking spots.

The way I do it.... Take a little from everyone and do what's best for you. Don't stink, watch the wind, float some milkweed every once in awhile (it is surprising what that will show you). And SIT STILL. I think as long as your scent control is better than average, movement is what kills us. Next time you are in the woods watch that sparrow 100 yards away. Our vision sucks compared to a deera.

Im a wind in face or cross wind hunter.
i hunt in work clothes or whatever cammo is available when im ready to go.
ive killed deer all all conditions.
winds, high temps, full moons , etc.
i really think human scent reaction to deer is based on how much pressure is in the area at that certain time of year.
ive had deer wind me and i have killed them 10 minutes later then others wind me and head out like lightning. What ever scrnt control or wind theories give you more confidence in what your doing then do it.
i will say one thing i like John and he uses what works gor him but, i almost can guarantee that John has most likley been winded by deer in the last 30 years but, he probably was not able to see the deer.
deer can smell for a long long ways.
some say thry can smell smoke from a cigarette from a mile away.
but, he uses snd does his scent thing that gives him extreme confidence and gas worked for him.
My thing is this. Dont get to caught up in alot of these celeb hunters.
they are all trying to sell or promote something.

I say if it's something you enjoy to the extent that you have a very process and protocol-driven personality, or what some would deem anal, then go for it. It may or may not actually work and you can debate that until the cows come home, but it seems like some folks just enjoy that part of the whole experience and going through that whole process adds perceived value to their hunting experience. If you'd rather just grab your stuff and go hunt and mind the wind, well, that works out quite well for some folks that consistently kill all sorts of animals also. Or anywhere in between. Choose your virtue.

it would take all the fun out of it for me, so I just play the wind. But I hunt a lot. Maybe if I only had one week per season to get out there, I may be more inclined to try to up my chances a little with a scent regimen. do what makes ya happy.
