Just started crossbow hunting a large WMA and need some elevation. Went with a crossbow due to a bum shoulder and ease in transition from firearms. Was going to try a hanging stand and had no problem with climbing sticks but the same bum shoulder said "no" to climbing up sticks with a hanging stand. Hence, I am here to read/learn about saddle hunting.

I like DIY. I have some climbing gear as I was just getting into rock climbing before moving somewhere where there is no rocks to climb. I wouldn't trust any of the nylon but carabiners etc should be good. So may have some stuff I can use.

Thanks for all the accumulated info!

Welcome from Northern Virginia. Head over to the climbing methods section, lots of good info there, sure to find something that floats your boat.

Welcome from northern Michigan! Don't be afraid to ask questions here. The guys here are pretty good guys willing to answer questions based on their experiences. You'll find a wide variety of opinions :tearsofjoy: but then its up to sort out what will work best for you.

We will have a nice saddle hunter meet up and hog hunt in north Florida in February if you don’t mind driving a few hours south. We had people from Ky, Pennsylvania, Ga and South Carolina there last year….
