I'm about to buy an Aero Hunter for me and my son. I thought about selling all of my stands in order to fund it. Is this a good idea? I imagine I have at least a couple thousand dollars worth of ladder stands lockon's and climbers etc.... I'm going to keep my pop-up blinds for hunting in the rain and also when my wife a little boy come with me. Am I insane for doing this?

Might want to check one out, to make sure you like it, before getting rid of everything. Saddle hunting is awesome, though !!!

Saddle hunters are a rare breed for a reason. It takes adaptability and patience. If you struggle with either then hold on to some of your traditional gear. Some folks just find that they don't like it.

I will buy the first one before I sell too much. I'm a technical rescue specialist on the Fort Worth fire department so I am a accustomed to the system. I think it should be an easy adjustment for me.

I think you will like it if you like light, compact and being able to conceal yourself behind the tree and good portability./ Comfort is immediate in a guidos web. and takes adjustments in other saddle to get just right.

I sold every stand I had shortly after switching to the saddle. Not a single regret lol.

I sold the majority of my stands this past summer and hunted almost exclusively out of my Web! I did keep my portable tripod, 2 tree lounge climbers I like to use during gun season on cutovers!

There is statistical proof that hunters falling from trees is the most common reason for fatalities and injuries among hunters. Too common. I don't know if I could prove it but I suspect that there are less falls and injuries using saddles. Get your son doing it safe.. The biggest reason for tree stand injuries and fatalities - no safety harness, sleep, slippery conditions, tree breaks ( still can happen with a saddle) a tree peg breaking, relying on branches and stepping from the ladder to the stand. The most dangerous part of using a saddle is climbing with a lineman's belt and slipping, or caribiner not being closed properly, or rope failure due to neglect. Also improper knots and rope sizes which this site often addresses

We should always be attached to the tree, we don't have to transition from tree to stand, we are not tooo worried about falling asleep except you might miss a deer.
Sit drags without harnesses don't thrill me
This is a good reason to make the switch wholesale over time to the saddle. If you want to fund the saddle purchase with stand sales due to limited funds then find some one from this site to give you a good demo. Where do you live? What State or Province

I plan on doing the same thing. I already own a treesuit and a guido's web and hunted out of them for years. I also sold a tree saddle years ago. But I really like the looks of the areohunter so I'm going for it.

I'm about 5.5 hours from you. I feel like there are some from Texas that may be closer.

Ya, I don't recommend it for others, but after sewing essentially a riggers belt into it, I'm comfortable with it.

I will eventually make a Sit Drag clone out of climbing grade webbing with a double layer, sewn, riggers belt built in. That will make me completely confident in the overkill.

@ecfire1967 I'll be calling soon, sorry it's taking so long. Tomorrow should be my last day of work for a while. I've flown almost a month and a half's worth of flying at work the past few weeks.

I don't have any of the commercially available saddles, but do have a modified Sit Drag I'll let you play with a bit.
To be honest, I'm glad I didn't sell everything when I switched. I'm sticking a couple hang-ons on some private this year for some pre-sets.
