Selling everything?

I sold the majority of my stands this past summer and hunted almost exclusively out of my Web! I did keep my portable tripod, 2 tree lounge climbers I like to use during gun season on cutovers!

my oh my, someone actually still uses the tree lounge? I have one I have been playing around with selling. who knows what I could get for it but it has all the bells and whistles. the archery platform, top and bottom levelers, the gun holders and even the padded nest seat. It was the first stand I ever bought and has some sentimental value, but I doubt i will ever hunt from it again.

the funny thing is that i see some of the parts on ebay going for a fortune, I saw a leveler go for 250 by itself last year.

Personally i'd start out with an Aerohunter Evolution or Guido's Web before you get into DIY modded saddles. They are going to be as safe as a saddle comes and you can trust that the manufacturing, materials, and quality are going to be second to none.

Once you are comfortable using those systems then you can ease your way (or dive head first) into DIY saddles and modifications. My .02 cents...

My BIL used to have a treelounge... that thing was pretty scary looking for a climber. Said he used it once and never took it back out again lol.

Ya, I don't recommend it for others, but after sewing essentially a riggers belt into it, I'm comfortable with it.

I will eventually make a Sit Drag clone out of climbing grade webbing with a double layer, sewn, riggers belt built in. That will make me completely confident in the overkill.

Yup I would be comfortable with those modifications. I just know that lots of people are killed and hurt hunting from trees and our method is generally safer.

I completely agree. This is what I always recommend.

I hunted with a bomb proof TL tree saddle for 5 or 6 years before deciding to go lighter with a custom Sitdrag.

I don't think it's smart to go right into a minimalist setup.

My first saddle will be an Aero. Safety is number one

I don't think you'll regret that. I have enjoyed mine. I do need to spend some time this spring dialing in and dialing again.

How comfortable was it? I worry about my legs falling asleep or my back hurting.

I never experienced any back pain or issues with legs falling asleep when wearing either my trophy line or my new tribe saddle. It was always minor discomforts in the form of hip squeeze/pinching at the hips or if I had the stirrups too tight so I'm uncomfortable on the bottom of my thighs that had a net effect on my overall comfort level on my earlier hunts in a saddle. Those things can be worked out by making adjustments as you sit for more prolonged periods of time though

If your legs start falling asleep you have too much weight being taken by the leg straps.

It's all a balance distributing the weight between your legs, your butt, and your back. It can be effected by lots of factors as well such as: tether height, clothing layers, angle of the tree, bridge length, and the strap adjustments. I would add I could stand to lose 10-20 lbs. I am 6'6" and weighed somewhere around 263 at times this season. I'm down to 247 now and plan on being in the 230s for next season.

Drek is right. Hip pinch is the biggest issue for a long sit. You really do just have to play with it. I have had all day sits where I was really comfortable and he next time I went out I dealt with a lot of hip pinch.

You can watch a good video that one of the SH members made on YouTube explaining the adjustments. His name is Boswell. You can contact him as well through this sight. I would do it but I'm not good at tagging people through Tapatalk.

Here is the video. He doesn't go into adjusting for comfort specifically.

There are lots of much more experienced people on this site that can help more.
