Sitka

I too wonder where they are getting deals from. I paid full for mine after searching for deals even on camofire they have some sitka that will pop up from time to time but its never in my size. I was hoping that buying direct from Sitka that i would get a coupon or something but that did not happen

LEO outdoors has discounts, but other than that, its pretty hard to get new sitka at a discount. I tend to try the stuff on at the store and then tirelessly watch the classifieds in rokslide and Archerytalk. i can usually find like new used stuff at 40-50% off and since I have already tried it on at the store, I know what sizes i need.

So I am either going to buy the Stratus pants or Fanatic Lite bibs for this season, and I have a few questions for you guys. Do you feel bibs work better with the being in a saddle because of not having to worry about having to put your saddle over your belt line and being uncomfortable? I was also thinking the bibs would be easier to carry to stand and put on without taking my boots off first since the legs zip open. Is there anyone with experience with the bibs that can share how they like them?

What temp ranges will you mostly be in? Stratus will be the most versatile. I use my Stratus pants for just about everything except the hot early season. The Fanatic Lite is nice but without the windstopper it doesn't do as well in cold weather.

Sitka just had a 10% sale and coupled with the LEO discount I got 50% off. I ordered a bunch lol. Got a whole set in Open Country

I already have the fanatic heavy set and I figured it would be my under 35-degree set. I am looking for mid season around 40's and 50 degree days. I have a fanatic hoodie and vest and thought the lite bibs would work well with them. I tried on the stratus today and I think I would sweat way too much to wear to stand but love the idea of the Windstopper.

Oh ok. Fanatic Lite would be a good chose then!

How does the fanatic lite compare to the stratus? I have the fanatic heavy and the stratus. Is the light somewhere in between?

Thickness wise they are comparable but the outer material is different and the backing material on the inside is different. The stratus has the micro grid fleece to trap heat and the FL has a bigger honey comb looking pattern that breathes well. The FL is more of a slick finish on the outside but very soft and quiet. Similar to an Under Armor hoody I would guess but more durable if that makes sense.

I hope Im posting in the right forum, if not please post it in it's propper location.

Sitka clothing;
Is it really worth the $$$...?
As I get older its harder to keep warm on extended sits during bitter cold .....also with age and many thousands of dollars worth of "this will keep you warm" statements....I also become skeptical.
So I'm asking members hear thier opinions on the fanatic jacket and bibs...

Deep breath...I'm trying to keep this short and not go nuts here. If you can swing the cash, I'm going to say right now with 100% certainty that you will NOT be disappointed with the Fanatic line. Obviously your outer layer is just as important as your inner though, and as it's already been mentioned in extremely cold temps pairing this layer with the correct base layer such as down and merino will make all the difference.

As for the comment about using other technical clothing brands such as Marmot/North Face/Mountain Hardware to save money that really doesn't make sense in my opinion as the cost's usually aren't much cheaper than Sitka when comparing Warmth to Weight ratios of the gear. Also when using these other brands, the first thing that's going to stick out to a hunter is pockets and zippers not being strategically placed in the correct spots and don't get me started on the noise issue with most mountaineering type clothing (They don't design it to be quiet because it doesn't need to be) Just keep in mind these companies aren't creating their clothing for someone that's spending 6+ hours in a tree, it's called active wear for a reason...Food for thought.

Last comment, if you do pickup the Jacket (which I would recommend if you can only swing 1 piece at the moment) The first time you throw a single Hot Hands inside it's zippered hand muff on a freezing cold day a smile is going to come to your face. I promise, best part of the entire system.

So I have been using the Sitka equinox line this early season. I will say for it being described as a light line of clothing it is still pretty warm. I was thinking of trying some of the ascent line of gear and colors still should work well (i should say pattern). I will say that I have logged 33 hrs to date and have not washed these. I have been sweating like a pig but that have no BO type oder at all they go off and back in an air tight container. I have not spooked any game with these more or less just need a better clear shot for success but overall the clothing has exceeded my expectations and is durable.

I have been testing how long I can go with the Core series base layers without washing them. The lightweight shirt i've been wearing every time I hike or scout and it has been soaked with sweat at least 12 times now. It still smells fresh to my nose. The Polygiene treatment seems to work great!

I don't know much just haven't researched it but it is doing what its supposed to!! After every hunt I have been going to my wife saying smell this lol without holding back i put it to her nose and she goes "no smell" lol!! Any woman willing to do that is a keeper in my book!!! Lol

I have the ascent line of pants. I bought them instead of the equinox cause they wet a little cheaper and Arkansas early season is really hot. They are the greatest thing in the world to me. Almost feel like you aren't wearing anything. Now I've never tried the equinox but don't see how you could be disappointed in the ascent pants. I wear them from 85 degrees down to about 55 with merino base layers.

I do the same exact thing!
