Spurs!! Why Not?

So do you guys not use sticks or steps to get up? I saw these for the first time today and this looks great. Haven’t read the whole thread yet so following.
Exactly. I just use the spurs. I put my bow and backpack on the ground then hang my platform off of my saddle and climb up. I set my platform and then climb on it. Once there, I screw in a small hook for my backpack and my bow hanger. I then use a grapple hook to pull up my bow and then my pack. I take off my spurs and attach then to the bottom of my pack, hang it up, and start hunting.

At the end of my hunt, I pull out my rappel rope and figure eight. I lower my bow and pack down using my grapple hook. Then I remove my hook and bow hanger, Then I hook up my rappel rope and come down. I grab my platform on the way down.

Everything gets stored on my pack and I walk out.

Hey Ernie, what size and type of rope ya got there?

@Erniepower is that 80' of 5mm Titan cord? It packs up that small? What's the weight? Maybe DRT would work better than SRT? That's what I've been using and retrieving the rope is kind of the PITA.

Yep that's exactly what it is. I'm bringing it with me and you can check it out when I get there.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I'm very curious about this rope.

Is this the stuff? Also interested in what that device is that your using as well

And I'd really like to get a set of carbon gaffs. If I knew I wasn't damaging the tree I'd be all over this. Being a rough carpenter, I loved scaling and heights. Guess as I get older I start thinking about things a little more deeply. If that makes any sense.

I may have some carbon gaffs going onto the classifieds soon if I can’t get comfortable with taking them off and putting them back on at height. I’m not real flexible anymore. I’m thinking I may have to turn backwards in my saddle to do it as the bridge and or lineman’s lanyard are in the way a lot trying to do it facing the tree.
