Stealth Stripping Hawk Heliums

I used a camp cloth tape on the body of my heliums. The first one I did I removed everything including the foot pegs...what a pain to get the plastic washers back in but that stick did come out looking nicer because the tape is under the bolt heads and it appears to be holding better. The second and third step I just took of the nuts and backed them out enough to be able to make it look clean on the back side. The front side tape covers up the bolt heads.

I set some stands this weekend with the sticks but I still thought I heard some metal on metal contact/chaffing. So I went and got some camo vet tape and silenced the v-notch tree brackets. WOW that seemed to definitely quiet the sticks down especially when walking...that appears to be a main contact point between sticks when in the carry position

@Tony
I used the camo vet wrap on my older sticks and it does work great, but it had some weird odor so I was afraid it would stink. I still have like 5 rolls but i am skeptical to use it on my helium because of the smell.
I dk, your thoughts?

I did a little paracord weave on on the feet because I hated the way they fit together for transport.. they fit like a glove now. I also spliced amsteel for tie on ropes.

I guess to keep the quiet it might be worth it.... But can is totally unnecessary. I've been using mine since the first year they came out and I've never had a nose issue it need for camo. I did sorry paint one of my stress in off season for craps and giggles but it didn't improve their profile.

OK here is the picture that I said I would post. All I did was trim the stealth strips to fit on the front.

That camp looks good. Is that the strata?

@Steve
Thanks Steve. That looks awesome. Definitely doing that.
Are you using 8mm with those versa buttons? Curious on what diameter fits snug.

I think it's 9mm but I don't really remember

I asked this in another thread to see what others have done. But with the lone wolf versa button, do your sticks still nest together good?

Yes I just flip flop them and I used grade 8bolts instead of the lone wolf hardware

@Steve

That's okay. If you want to it may be helpful to see for me and any others wanting to do this same mod.

I think I will do the same and try it out. I was thinking of making my own versa buttons but i didn't like the idea of all the metal washers and such. I like the plastic lone wolf ones, but i am going to change out the bolts like you did. I bet they are a little flatter. Then pick me up some rope and strata strips. Pretty much copying you right now.....

So I wrapped my helium’s with stealth strips and wanted to let all of you know not to trim the edge of the strips. They should wrap around the edge of the stick and fit into the gap between the front and back of the stick. The only thing you need to do is cut small squares out of the stealth strip where the bolts and washers fit to the sticks. Honestly it was like a 1/2 inch square at each step bolt.
